Property Description for 23 Cornelia Street, HOUSE

Even in a city like New York, there are few properties that can possibly rival this gem. Built as a carriage house in 1912, this property has been transformed into a modern home with a private garage and a spectacular pool nestled in the West Village. This 21' wide townhouse with a classic brick faade has 4 bedrooms, 5 full baths and 2 half baths. The house has many unusual architectural features with dramatic double heights ceilings, 3 original fireplaces (one wood burning & two gas), beautiful hardwood floors. Basalt stone tile floor are throughout the pool area and the pool itself measures approximately 30' by 15' and 5,5' deep. There are double height ceilings in the pool (27') and a chandelier, creating a grand impression. The lounge area also features a double height ceiling, as well as ample room for art displays. A Murano glass Chandelier, candle light fixtures and a gas fireplace are welcoming you into this one-of-a kind "Salon", with an exterior patio. Complementing the first level is a studio with a full bathroom that functions well as a guest suite and a private garage (approx. 13'). The second floor features a living room with high beamed ceilings, Russian Ipe wood floors, leaded glass windows, a chandelier, and a WNFP with a marble heart. The renovated kitchen has a Wolf electronic oven/gas stove, Subzero fridge and a wine fridge, a Fisher & Paykal double drawer dishwasher and granite counter tops. The dining room walls have antique bricks from Paris, a Murano chandler and Lalique light fixtures. There is also a private bedroom/home office with a full bath and a separate entrance. The third floor features double master suites-- the master has custom floor to ceiling windows facing Cornelia Street, a large closet and a full bathroom. The grand master has an open feel with high ceilings, a chandelier and a dual sink bathroom with two entrances. There is a separate bathing area with marble floors connected to a private north facing terrace with an outdoor gas fireplace. Pushing the boundaries of the home outward the same floor boasts a South facing terrace. A rooftop terrace with spectacular City view open to the sky is the piece de resistance to a best in class living experience - all located near to the Washington Square Park, as well as some of the City's best restaurants, shopping and transportation. The house can be rented furnished, partially furnished, or unfurnished (2 year lease term for unfurnished).

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
