Property Description for 444 East 52nd Street, 3-D

This spacious yet intimate one bedroom apartment on a prime Beekman cul-de-sac is priced to sell. Located in a classical art deco cooperative, this traditionally laid-out apartment enjoys the finest pre-war details including casement windows, beamed ceilings and a striking wood-burning fireplace that acts as the heart of this charming home. The apartment enjoys three quiet exposures, including a windowed eat-in-kitchen and a spacious south-facing master bedroom. Located at a traffic free cul-de-sac sanctuary, 444 East 52nd street is an intimate white-glove building with a live-in superintendant. The beautifully maintained building, once a home to the irreverent Dorothy Parker, allows pets, pied-a-terres and parent gifting with the possibility of private storage and a bike space. Showings on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays by appointment only. With apologies, no open houses or weekend showings.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
