Property Description for 802 Dean Street, 302

PEACEFUL & ELEGANT. This two-bedroom condo, one of five in the buildings that comprise the Pacific Blue complex, has been re-imagined with sophistication -- and a budget to match. The kitchen is worthy of the most fashionable chef: Fisher & Paykel refrigerator; Bosch dishwasher, stove and washer-dryer; expansive Caesarstone counter tops; two-zone wine cooler; Lews satin brass cabinet hardware; a Newport faucet and fittings; a generous island/breakfast bar; and tall white custom cabinetry illuminated by both task and directional lighting. Open to the kitchen, the living room is beautifully proportioned and opens up to a massive 150-square-foot covered terrace -- another "room" for lounging, gardening and entertaining a good deal of the year. Two bedrooms are strewn with sunlight from a wall of windows, and there are double closets in each. Or, one could easily remove the party wall and create one huge bedroom, as well. A long hallway lowboy with a reclaimed-pine top and upper cabinetry echoes the clean lines of the apartment and works beautifully for storing linens and towels and so much more! The bathroom offers a luxuriously deep tub with a spa shower-head and a double-width medicine cabinet. The apartment has a smart thermostat that controls central air and heat (radiant heat in the master), in-unit laundry, and a tankless water heater, built-in speakers and concealed cable. The unit is deeded with 85 square feet of storage space, and there's an additional room for bikes. Building amenities are many and include a fitness room, lap pool and sauna, media center, billiards room, event space and playroom, which the $175 HOA fee covers. With only 11 years in to a 25-year tax abatement, the monthly fees are astoundingly low. This building, at the junction of Prospect Heights and Crown Heights, is proximal to multiple train lines; minutes to hot, notable restaurants on both Vanderbilt to the west and Washington & Franklin to the east; across from a well-stocked plant nursery; and a pleasant stroll south to the Brooklyn Museum and Botanic Garden. If you were wondering about how you might pamper yourself in the current real estate market, this may be just the answer.

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
