Property Description for 171 West 12th Street, 4-B

Remarkable luxury living on the border of Greenwich and West Village. Located in one of Manhattan's most sought after locations, this chic and beautifully renovated 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment combines historic pre-war integrity with custom renovations for the modern time. The open layout with south, east and north exposures creates a vast living space with custom features to close off certain rooms when privacy is needed. 10 foot ceilings throughout with floor-to-ceiling doors and doorways enhance the pre-war origins of the space. Relax and entertain in the roomy living and dining space which features a grey travertine wood-burning fireplace and an open panel into the den/2nd bedroom. A custom sliding, 3-paneled dividing wall made of mahogany wood can be used to close off the den, which transforms seamlessly into a 2nd bedroom with a custom queen-sized daybed, deep closet and en-suite bathroom. The spacious open chef's kitchen features top-of-the-line appliances/fixtures (Liebherr, Miele and Dornbracht), teak wood cabinetry and Basaltine stone counter tops. The master bedroom features a king-sized bed with bedside tables, en-suite bathroom with heating towel rack, and floor-to-ceiling custom teak closets with fantastic storage space. Each bathroom is luxuriously designed with Carrara marble, mahogany wood accents and Lefroy Brooks fixtures. Furniture in the apartment can be sold separately. All of this in a mid-sized coop just off the new St. Vincent's Park. This well-maintained coop is comprised of 25 apartments, and has incredibly low maintenance. A stone's throw from some of NYC's greatest restaurants, shopping, nightlife and public transportation (1, 2, 3, A, C, E, F, M and L trains).

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
