Property Description for 159-34 Riverside Drive West, 7-B

Turn key best describes this newly renovated, 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom gem in Washington Heights most sought after Riverside Drive building, River Arts. This is a top floor corner unit providing you with a life of peaceful silence; no upstairs neighbors! Enter through a large gallery style foyer leading to an expansive loftlike 21-foot long living room with postcard River, Park and Bridge views. Adjacent to the living room is a renovated open kitchen with a breakfast bar and a separate windowed dining area. The kitchen provides excellent work space and abundant storage cabinets plus a pantry closet, stainless steel appliances, granite countertop and a glass backsplash. The hardwood floors have just been refinished and the entire apartment has just been painted. Don't worry about 50 layers of paint that you see in many pre-war apartments. All walls, windows, heating grates and doors have been scraped down to a smooth new finish and new LED recessed lighting has been installed throughout the apartment.

In a separate wing to the right of the foyer are the 2 full size bedrooms and 2 full baths. The main bath was enlarged to add a deep soaking tub surrounded by white marble tiling. The second one is en-suite to the master bedroom with its wall of closets. In one of the 3 hallway closets is a full-size stacked and vented washer/dryer, a New York luxury! There is generous closet space and windows in every room providing abundant Eastern, Southern and Northern sunlight throughout the day.

River Arts is a well-run and meticulously maintained full-service building overlooking the Hudson River. It provides residents with a 24-hour doorman, live-in super, porters and an in-house management office. Additional amenities include an indoor parking garage ($200 a month), gym (just $50 a year!), free bike room, 24/7 laundry room, storage, a party/event room and an outdoor patio area and pets are allowed (with breed restrictions for dogs).

The River Arts building is conveniently located close by the #1 train on Broadway with quick access to the Henry Hudson and the George Washington Bridge. Its perfectly located for outdoor lovers with direct access to the Hudson River Greenway for bikers and Fort Washington Park with its soccer fields, modern playgrounds and volleyball, tennis and handball courts.

This is a special home you won't want to miss!

Washington Heights | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Washington Heights, a hilly neighborhood on Manhattan’s northern tip known for its affordable apartments, preserved pre-war buildings, and Dominican food. Some would argue that it's a hidden gem and one of Manhattan's last neighborhoods that has retained its culture. The large swath of land is bordered by Inwood to the north along Dyckman Street, by Harlem to the South along 155th Street, by the Harlem River to the east, and the Hudson River to the West. It is the highest natural point on the Island of Manhattan.

Despite its high residential density, Washington Heights and Inwood have not seen modern housing construction in more than a decade other than relatively small housing units. Midtown Manhattan, Battery Park, TriBeCa, Chelsea, and Hell’s Kitchen, on the other hand, have seen an increase in building. Most of the high rise construction belongs to hospitals such as New York Presbyterian, Columbia University Medical Center, and educational institutions like Yeshiva University and Boricua College.

Washington Heights has access to amazing green spaces like The Cloisters, Fort Washington Park, Highbridge Park and Fort Tryon Park. There is no shortage of historical landmarks either. Remember General George Washington set up his camp in Washington Heights during the Revolutionary War. He used the elevated neighborhood to his tactical advantage to spot the Redcoats. As history would have it, his plan didn’t work out so well and the British occupied New York for seven years.
