Property Description for 170 West 23rd Street, 2-Y

Welcome home to this meticulously renovated condo alcove studio with a glorious 140-square foot, east-facing terrace. The private outdoor space bathed in all-day sunlight is just the cherry on top. This immaculate, turn-key home, pied a terre or investment property comes completely furnished. The pristine, U-shaped kitchen has an enormous amount of cabinet and Silestone counter space, including a breakfast bar. Gourmet cooks will appreciate the adult-sized appliances, including the Frigidaire refrigerator, and the GE dishwasher and self-cleaning oven. The traditional bathroom has rich mahogany accents including a three-door, mirrored medicine cabinet and vanity with a granite counter. The bath sparkles like new with floor to ceiling subway tiling and glass shower doors that display the luxury of an Interaktive shower fixture. The alcove studio has more storage than most one bedrooms thanks to a custom, built-in storage and queen-sized Murphy bed unit that virtually triples the existing storage space. There is even a cabinet to store your pillows! The large alcove allows for three distinct living areas. Then there's the terrace. It's absolutely glorious, and very private, surrounded by high wooden trellises and floored with new Trex decking. For your enjoyment, it comes with a beautiful outdoor dining set with umbrella, a wrought-iron bench and a storage trunk to hide away all your gardening needs. The condominium has a full-time doorman and porter, a live-in superintendent, a central laundry room, storage by wait-list, a bike room and a parking garage. It is twenty feet from the 1 train, a block from both the C, E and the F,and M trains and on the cross town 23rd Street bus line. No less than five gyms are nearby, along with Whole Foods and a gourmet grocery in the building. Trader Joe's around the corner. In the heart of Chelsea, you're blocks from the very best restaurants, the Highline and the gallery district. And, just a subway ride from practically anywhere else in the city. For the investors, there are four colleges in the vicinity, including NYU, FIT, SVU and the New School, and professionals starting out value affordable apartments such as this in a doorman condominium in such a prime location.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
