Property Description for 425 East 50th Street, 2

Stunning Jewel in BeekmanThis designer, two bedroom, two bathroom townhouse home is simply magnificent. Featured in Architectural Digest, this pre-war triplex has been meticulously renovated throughout with the finest finishes, while maintaining all the charm one would expect in an offering such as this. One may enter the home from any level, but the exquisitely tailored Parlor floor is certainly the most grand. The eye is immediately drawn upwards to the 12 foot ceilings which convey a tremendous sense of breadth amplified by the southern light pouring in from the French doors, which open to a small Juliet balcony facing tree-lined 50th Street complete with custom window boxes. This elegant living and dining room wraps you in European elegance with wainscot paneling, a wood-burning fireplace, and rich wood floors. A very well thought-out kitchen, featuring Miele and SubZero appliances, completes the main floor.Descend one flight down and sequestered from the entertaining space, one reaches the decadent Master Bedroom suite. This floor features abundant custom closets, motorized window treatments and a spa-like ensuite bath with steam shower and Waterworks fixtures. One floor below leads to the second bedroom which seconds as a media room, with additional custom closets, cozy wood-burning fireplace, built-in bar with ice maker and second ensuite full bath. The cozy aura of this space beckons relaxation. 425 East 50 Street is a well-run, self-managed pet-friendly building, located right on Beekman Place and the East River. Stroll through this neighborhood and you feel as though you are in a European enclave. The neighborhood shops offer local merchants and dining, along with easy access to bus service. Modern updates such as surround sound and iPod docs on each floor mixed with old-world European elegance make this home truly unique and an absolute must-see! Pied-a-terres are allowed

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
