Property Description for 75 Murray Street, 1/2

The facade with stunning arched windows and the manual operated elevator are just the beginning of the stunning history of this NYC jewel. Commissioned and built in 1857 by James Bogardus, 75 Murray was originally designed as Hopkins store and the rich history is evident throughout the 25ft wide building. It is one of only three remaining Bogardus buildings currently Downtown. When you enter the building, you are met by 14 ft ceilings and a gracious lobby leading into the largest most open space in the entire building. Formerly used as an event space, the ground floor has big bright north facing windows and one powder room. The second floor offers 12 foot ceilings and an open loft like plan complete with a kitchen, full bathroom and the buildings main HVAC system which was recently upgraded. Together the floors total nearly 4,500 sq ft and can be accessed by a central stair case or a hand operated elevator which opens directly onto the floor. The space is available short term (single day photo shoots, events, etc) or for longer terms. Owner is open to restaurant, bar or office usage. This building is also for sale and further details can be found on this website.

Tribeca | Manhattan

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
