Property Description for 111 Monroe Street, 6-B

With incredible City views, low taxes and maintenance, 10 ft ceilings and northern exposures this well laid out bright and ideally situated one bedroom condo has it all.

From the entrance to the apartment, the kitchen opens out into the spacious living room that provides ample space for entertaining and relaxing. The kitchen has GE appliances, built-in cabinets and a breakfast bar with area enough for a dining table. The living room is large and bright due to the north facing window and sliding doors. There is also a balcony with enough space for a table and chairs so you can watch the world go by with your morning coffee or evening cocktail.

The bedroom is large and can easily take a king size bed, contains built-in wardrobes and features two north facing windows.

The bathroom contains a tub and shower and has a custom made vanity, Kohler brass faucet, and updated tile work completed by the current owner.

Like all the units this one includes custom honeycomb linen energy efficient blinds, honey oak wood floors and a Samsung washer dryer.

This elevator building is very well maintained, and amenities include a gym, storage units, and a parking garage. A 421a Tax abatement runs up until 2036 and monthly maintenance is kept low as a large part of the maintenance is paid by the lower level commercial space. For a condo of this quality and size, monthly outgoings are kept to a minimum.

The current owner has made additional improvements in the apartment including upgrading the boiler to a European style Takagi tankless water heater and replacing the original AC system heads to Mitsubishi split system.

Also upgraded were the bathroom and bedroom doors to hardwood and the existing baseboards to maple hardwood.

Located at the corner of Monroe Street and Bedford Avenue in Bedford Stuyvesant the property has the fortune to be across the street from the Bed Stuy YMCA that has a gym and a pool.

Equidistant from the "G" train on Bedford and the “C” Train at Franklin Ave the B52 bus is a block away on Gates Ave and serves all neighborhoods between Bed Stuy and Downtown Brooklyn.

Entertainment is close by with several restaurants, bars and coffee shops including, Pilar, Black Swan, Mix-Tape cafe and Dynaco within a few minutes walk.

Shopping is also convenient with the Metropolitan Citymarket in the commercial street level of the building and Shipwrecked fishmongers a couple of blocks walk.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
