Property Description for 1 Fifth Ave, 25

Step into this full-floor tower apartment from your private elevator landing and what you first see is the sky and city skylines from your oversized six by four foot plate glass operable windows. You are surrounded by distant views on all four sides, with beautiful Washington Square Park below. You literally feel like you are on a cloud.

This gorgeous apartment occupies an entire tower floor of the iconic One Fifth Avenue, a stunning prewar Art Deco building, built in 1929 and known in the AIA Guide to New York City as, “A stepped-back pinnacle of cool brown brick that has been a visual landmark on lower Fifth Avenue and Washington Square Park since it was built.” This full-service cooperative is known for it’s sterling service, discrete elegance, as home to many well known names in entertainment and business.

The loft-like apartment boasts an open 64’ long entertaining area of living room, dining room and kitchen on the west side of the unit where the owners have hosted storied parties. The north and south sides are each equally impressive at 50’ in length. Surrounded on the South, West and North by 11 huge windows, it boasts huge space, huge views, and amazing light. Exquisite finishings include high-beamed ceilings, Venetian plaster on all walls, as well as concrete and hardwood strip floors. They all combine beautifully to set the tone for this dramatic home.

Two split bedrooms offer the ultimate in privacy. One located at the southern end with south and east views, and the other located at the northern end with north and east views. And yes, both bedrooms have amazing distant views as well from oversized windows even in both en-suite bathrooms as well. The master bath has a huge windowed steam shower as well as dual vanities and poured concrete floors. The master also boast a walk in closet, several other closets, as well as built in dressers.

The kitchen has a service side as well as an open side and features all stainless steel, custom cabinetry with dual sinks, a Gaggenau stove and oven, subzero refrigerator, and Miele dishwasher. The open side was specially designed for entertaining at large parties and offers a tremendous amount of counter space.

But those views….to the south from Washington Square Park to the World Trade Center to the East River bridges...To the West and all of the West Village, the Hudson River and into the hills of New Jersey and its amazing sunsets...To the North, The Empire State Building, The Citicorp building, The Chrysler building, the Pam Am/ MetLife building, and off to Hudson Yards... Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
