Property Description for 100 Jay Street, 18-J

REDUCED! Imagine coming home to a space where your living room extends seamlessly to the horizon which includes some of the most stunning views and sunsets you've ever seen. A panorama that spans the Manhattan skyline, the Brooklyn & Manhattan Bridges, and the Statue of Liberty. This 900 SF unit is the largest one bedroom line at Dumbo's J Condominium, with an open living room featuring floor-to-ceiling soundproof, triple-glazed windows, hardwood floors, spacious closets, 9.5-foot ceilings, and an in-unit washer/dryer. It has the best of everything you're looking for, including a chef's kitchen with a black granite island, stainless appliances, and custom quarter-sawn oak cabinets. You'll live in luxury with big open sky contrasting with the classic industrial landscape that is Dumbo's legacy. Nearby, Brooklyn Bridge Park has evolved into a popular destination, with the newly opened Time Out Market and The Empire Shops providing just a few of the many shopping and dining options. It is a beautifully conceptualized and executed greenway along the Brooklyn waterfront. Well preserved cobblestone pavers, with railroad tracks, and loading docks line Dumbo's streets. They are the Machine-Age vestiges of this great neighborhood, as it transforms into a modern NYC post-industrial neighborhood which rivals Tribeca and Soho for the perfect blend of adaptive reuse, new construction, local color, and lifestyle. The J Condominium is part of this great revival as a full-service, recently built luxury property featuring a 24/7 lobby concierge, on-site valet parking, a remodeled 2400+ SF top of the line fitness center with Peloton bikes, cold storage, playroom, bicycle room, package room, storage, newly remodeled media room and hallways. The fourth-floor garden terrace, and sundeck on the 32nd floor, offer additional stunning views and outdoor amenity spaces. Solid condo financially. Please note that there is a capital assessment of $251 monthly through December 2020.

Dumbo | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

DUMBO, which is an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, used to be a lively industrial and manufacturing zone, full of large factories and warehouses. These buildings have now been converted into expansive lofts, theaters, galleries, and office spaces for start-up companies. These larger residential spaces are attractive to families and creative artists and writers who need space to dream and create.

DUMBO was named in 1978 as a sort of reverse marketing ploy to try to keep people from swarming into the area, attracted by the quaint tree-lined streets, elegant historic brownstones, large lofts, and views of Lower Manhattan. It was felt that this influx of people would change the nature of the neighborhood. It was hoped that by giving the area a ridiculous name, nobody would want to live there.

Many of the neighborhood’s bars, hotels, and restaurants capitalize on the stunning waterfront views and the Manhattan skyline in the background. Interesting and fun cultural events are held under and around the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges that connect DUMBO to Manhattan. One of these is the annual Oktoberfest.

With beautiful vignettes of the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges being framed around every corner, DUMBO provides residents and tourists with charming, and often surprising, views. Because the neighborhood is eminently walkable and filled with unique shops, it feels like a small town on the edge of a major urban waterfront. Once people move to DUMBO, they tend to stay and become involved in the community.
