Property Description for 142 West 26th Street, 9-FLR

THE COLLECTOR'S ITEM

This luxuriously renovated, full-floor Chelsea loft boasts over 4,200 square feet of living space, ceilings measuring over 11 feet, oak flooring throughout, and over-sized windows with wide views of a highly sought after location at the crossroads of Chelsea and Flatiron.

A key-accessed elevator welcomes you directly to a stunning lacquered foyer which leads you into a sprawling home featuring a remarkable chef's kitchen, two massive living and entertaining areas, four bedrooms (two interior) and three bathrooms. This loft offers absolute flexibility, and can easily be customized into an impressive six bedroom configuration that is perfect for families (please see alternative floorplan).

This quintessential Chelsea apartment was transformed with exceptional materials and details under the masterful design of Fernando Santangelo, a decorator best-known for his collaborations with hotel developer André Balazs, such as the Chateau Marmont Hotel in Los Angeles. The apartment was featured in The New York Times' "Home" section on November 27, 2014.

Upon entering the spacious foyer, you arrive at the first of two spacious living areas. It features a full wall of windows with northern exposure, and is adjacent to the kitchen and den with French doors.

The open chef's kitchen itself is custom-built for cooking and entertaining, and includes lacquered cabinetry, gorgeous calacatta marble countertops, professional-grade American Range eight-burner and double-oven range, Sub-Zero refrigerator, extra-deep soaking sink, Miele dishwasher, wine fridge, and Hansgrohe fixtures. The kitchen also features a convenient butler's pantry and an intimate dining nook that's perfect for breakfast and smaller meals.

The loft features a second massive living, library, dining and entertaining space, which is a great place to display art and books.

Both the master and den / guest bedroom have elegant en suite marble bathroom with fixtures by Barber Wilsons and Aquadomo, and radiant heated floors. Adjoining the master bedroom is a spectacular dressing area with an array of built-in wardrobe closets.

Finally, this gracious home has a spacious laundry room, with a full-sized LG washer and externally-vented dryer, as well as extra storage space.

The boutique co-op building has only 12 floors, with 13 residences and low maintenance charges. Located in the heart of Chelsea, within a few blocks walk are a Fairway, Whole Foods, Eataly, Madison Square Park, NoMad, West Chelsea / High Line, and several transportation lines which provide convenient transportation throughout the city.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
