Property Description for 229 Dean Street

The renovation of this modern masterpiece took over three years and it shows from the moment you enter the Townhouse at 229 Dean Street. As you tour the property you will notice the great care and thought that has gone into every detail from the fixtures and systems to the layout and design everything has been closely considered.

Parlor Floor
As you enter on the Parlor Floor you are greeted by a meticulously appointed open space housing the professional grade kitchen, dining room and family room. Richly textured wide plank hardwood floors set a soothing tone while innovative accents throughout make 229 Dean a "Modern Classic". There's nothing more calming than leaving the mayhem of the City and escaping to this peaceful oasis. The house's update required a full gut renovation, everything was stripped to the studs except for the beautiful wood shutters on the front windows by the dining room. One of the wonderful by-products of such a substantial renovation are the back windows. From the great room, off the kitchen is a wall of glass (which leads to the terrace and garden) allowing for a flood of natural light and a view of greenery uncommon in the City.

Second Floor
The hallways leading to the second floor were left clean and bright to allow for maximum space and utility. This floor includes the spacious second bedroom and third bedroom which is currently purposed as a study and includes a washer/dryer. The foyer is of double height to facilitate the projection of sunlight into the house as well as allow for greenery to thrive which is showcased on landing of the second floor. The incorporation of outside elements on the inside brings a warmth to this modern masterpiece not often found the merging of the two is where the genius lives at 229 Dean Street.

Third Floor/Master Suite
The top floor of the property is where you will find the master suite and home office. Luxuriate in this expansive space that offers a sitting/TV area, room for an oversized bed and a custom-built closet/dressing room with large windows allowing for an abundance of natural sunlight. Lounging, sleeping and getting ready for a night out has never been so comfortable. The master bath is lined in marble tiles with radiant heated floors and a Caesarstone vanity, and is accessed through the dressing room which is of spa quality. This bathroom is large enough for two people to get ready at once, has an oversized window which streams in natural light and a gracious walk-in shower with space for multiple bathers.

Rooftop Terrace
This terrace is one of three outdoor spaces at 229 Dean Street. A small vegetable garden in the corner enables true farm-to-table dining, and privacy is guaranteed as the only rooftop terrace on this stretch of Dean Street. Come enjoy your morning coffee or weekend nap in tranquility.

Garden Floor
The garden floor includes a one-bedroom rental unit with a separate entrance offering an income opportunity. The three room apartment includes a spacious living room, kitchen and washer/dryer in the unit.

Boerum Hill | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Boerum Hill is a tiny, quiet, primarily residential neighborhood in Brooklyn. There are broad tree-lined streets that are filled with elegant three and four-story brownstones and townhouses, mostly built between 1840 and 1870. There is a definite family vibe to the neighborhood, but young professionals are moving in, and with them are coming trendy bars to cater to their desire for some measure of nightlife, without having to linger in Manhattan. These new bars and restaurants are being sandwiched in amongst existing shops on both Atlantic Avenue and Smith Street, which are the main commercial areas in Boerum Hill.

Boerum Hill offers a convenient location that is still able to maintain its small-neighborhood feel. Shopkeepers value their customers and remember their regulars. It continues to do what it was designed to do, namely provide small-town living in the very shadow of the big city. Boerum Hill is an easy commute to other parts of the city, making it easy to come home every day to the peace and tranquility of Boerum Hill while commuting to a job anywhere in the city.

The neighborhood is quite walkable and you can take the time to catch up with your neighbors while visiting on their stoops. Shopping on Atlantic Avenue is stress-free with no high pressure. You can meet with friends at any of the many coffee shops and while away pleasant hours in conversation. The dining scene on Smith Street is similarly laid-back. Don’t expect that there will be quite as much to see or do as there is in Manhattan, but there are a decent number of interesting bars and restaurants providing a measure of nightlife. The trade-off is worth it, as Boerum Hill provides a quiet, peaceful place to live and raise a family.
