Property Description for 378 Halsey Street

This stripped-to-the-bare-bones and meticulously renovated 4-story, 3-family "SMART" Brownstone measuring 20'x40' built on a 20'x100' lot is nestled in historic Stuyvesant Heights, and is the definition of a turn-key luxurious property! Original double-leaf wood doors at the entry reveal this stunning turn-of-the-century circa 1910 Neo-Grec style home showcasing classic pre-war features from exposed brick, high stoop and decorative fireplace mantle to preserved wooden window shutters, casement panels and original staircase.

This tree-lined Bedford Stuyvesant block displays a masterpiece that sets a new standard for townhouse living! Custom integrated Control4 smart system with a state-of-art security, individually zoned heating and cooling as well as heat and motion detectors allowing its user to navigate or remotely monitor the entire house with ease and comfort.

A spectacular 3-bedroom owner's duplex begins on the parlor floor with original decorative marble fireplace, pristinely restored window shutters and crown molding, distressed hickory hardwood floors, and high ceilings. The open chef's kitchen displays unparalleled quality of finishes, including quartz countertops, Blanco & Moen fixtures, custom mosaic back-splash, Decora Cherry cabinetry, premium Jenn-Air appliances such as a 4-burner stove, a convection oven, a dishwasher, and a double-door commercial-grade refrigerator. The parlor floor bedroom comes appointed with custom wall-to-wall closet and faces the private garden. The parlor floor en-suite bathroom has cobble subway tiling with Grohe, Decolav & Glacier Bay finishes, glass curtain, dual sinks, marble countertop and custom vanity. The lower garden level has a separate entrance and features a second full bathroom with Grohe finishes and a soaking tub, two extremely generous bedrooms with wall-to-wall closets, a mud room, a play/study area and a laundry room. A wet bar including dishwasher, sink and full sized fridge leads to the natural wood enclosed private backyard - an outdoor oasis ideal for entertaining or just relaxing. The cellar is completely open for storage or customization.

Above the stunning three bedroom duplex are two full floor turn-key Junior-4 apartments. These sun-lit and custom crafted units offer a flowing living space with the same level of security, comfort and quality as the duplex home. Open high-end kitchens boast quartz countertops, Moen and Elkay finishes, Kitchenaid 5 burner stoves and bamboo cabinetry. Each upper floor apartment has a king-size main bedroom and separate home office/study/guest room. Custom bathroom finishes with Bosch Washer and Dryer in each unit. In addition, the top floor apartment also has two large skylights - above a living area and a kitchen boosting amazing natural light throughout a day!

Every detail of the exterior and the interior makes this home a truly exquisite find! Convenient to the Kingston-Throop Subway stop and Bed-Stuy's Zagat-rated hidden treasure Saraghina.

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
