Property Description for 2 Beekman Place, 15-AB

Create your own Masterpiece in the Sky. Combine these two sophisticated residences into a sprawling and sumptuous full-floor apartment with coveted outdoor space. Currently set up as two contiguous classic six units, combine them to create a grand apartment in this intimate, enclave of the city that is Beekman Place. Both apartments boast expansive entry foyers, formal dining rooms, wrap-around terraces, generous living-rooms with wood-burning fire-places, views that encompass all directions, and staff quarters. Pre-war details abound with ample closets, beamed ceilings, hard-wood floors and moldings throughout. 15A has been impeccably renovated. The gracious entry-way beckons with vaulted archways, cherubs decorating the moldings and hand-made wall-coverings complete this elegant space. The living-room greets with a hand-crafted mantel, burnished wall-coverings and entry onto the terrace. The windowed kitchen located next to the formal dining area is built for the chef in mind with restaurant quality Thermador stove, Bosch dishwasher, Sub-Zero, and deep-farmhouse sink. Stripped radiators and brass hardware speak retain the spirit of the famed architect who designed the building, Mr. Rosario Candela. The apartments come furnished with a washer/dryer, have been professionally re-wired and two storage units transfer with the sale. This intimate, white-glove coop offers a full-service building with landscaped roof deck and attentive staff. Close to the East River Drive, transportation and fine dining, this opportunity is not to be missed. Rosario Candela is calling for one to re-create his vision of an Oasis in The Sky.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
