Property Description for 220-222 East 5th Street, 2-E

Chic, luxurious, cozy, and functional are just a few adjectives to describe this fully renovated hotel like 2 bedroom home with a 650+/- square foot private south facing terrace located on a tree lined street in the heart of the dynamic East Village, Bowery and Noho neighborhoods of downtown Manhattan with extremely low common charges. .

The architectural firm of Taylor and Miller reimagined the space and the result is nothing short of dazzling. It is a testament to harmonized form and function.
Optimal and high capacity storage was a high priority in the renovation and was integrated into the custom cabinetry which has a high end yet simple aesthetic.

One of the many highlights of this floor through residence is a store front floor to ceiling glass window/door which is fabricated with shatter proof and tempered glass that seamlessly combines outdoor and indoor living, maximizes sunlight and provides a fabulous entertaining experience. Another interesting design aspect are the high ceilings which begin taller in the bedrooms then cleverly slope toward the deck to blend the interior and outdoor spaces.

The sleek open kitchen is equipped with Corian counters and double sink, a Miele large capacity refrigerator/freezer, Miele dishwasher, Miele oven and stove top with extractor fan vented to the outside, Sub Zero wine cooler, under cabinet task lighting on dimmers and a large island topped with Brazilian Ipe wood.

Speaking of Brazilian Ipe wood, it is utilized throughout the space for a uniform and polished look: flooring in the living /dining /kitchen area and island, a custom nine foot dining table and bench and is covering the walls of the center hallway which houses a deep clothing, utility and bathroom supply closet along with the Miele washer/dryer.

The bathroom boasts floor to ceiling Carerra marble subway tiles, Water Works fixtures, a Restoration Hardware shower head and medicine cabinet, high capacity shower, gorgeous claw foot soaking tub and a pocket door to optimize space.

All lighting throughout the home is in on dimmer switches and designed with the intent to accentuate the multi-level ceilings and the nesting living room screens which cleverly cover the TV and storage shelving. It is quite dramatic in the evening.

This well appointed home offers so much more: white oak flooring in the bedrooms, central AC and heat with a Nest smart technology thermostat, and multiple electrical outlets.Icing on the cake to make this the perfect home is the 670 square foot south facing private and sun soaked terrace. Included is a custom exterior dining table, bench and decking all made of exterior grade Bazilian Ipe wood, exterior electric shades for window and door, a water faucet/hose, planters, lighting on dimmers, and multiple power outlets. It is truly a quiet and serene oasis.

220-222 East 5th Street is a boutique style landmarked condominium with only 10 units combined. It is conveniently located on a quintessential East village tree lined block and part of the East Village historic district. It's close to many luxury hotels, gyms, fine dining, bars and shopping. East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
