Property Description for 1 White Street, TRIPLEX

In 1973, as a tactic to gain citizenship, John Lennon and Yoko Ono attempted to receive diplomatic immunity by applying to the United Nations as ambassadors of a "conceptual country" called Nutopia. When the information became public, John and Yoko announced the formation of Nutopia and revealed One White Street as its formal embassy.

Completely renovated inside and out, One White Street now represents a legendary piece of New York City history. Built in 1808, this triplex home spans approximately 2,115 square feet across 3 floors, and features 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, 1 half-bathrooms, two wood-burning fireplaces, a decked rooftop, and well-proportioned rooms with seven large windows on every floor exposing iconic Tribeca views onto West Broadway and White Street from every room.

On the first floor is a marble powder room, brand new, open kitchen with top-of-the-line appliances, granite counter tops, custom walnut and lacquer cabinetry, plentiful storage with separate pantry, and wood burning fireplace in the living/dining area that makes for cozy entertaining. On the second floor, there are two generously sized bedrooms each with ample closet space, a large full bathroom with soaking tub, and a separate laundry room. The third floor is entirely comprised of the master suite with its own wood-burning fireplace, an exquisite marble bathroom with clawfoot-soaking tub and separate marble rain shower stall. Additionally there is a large walk-in closet. On the roof is a 705 SF decked terrace that offers superb views of classic Tribeca buildings as well as views from midtown to One World Trade Center.

This home has just completed a full renovation and features all new plumbing, all new electrical systems, an unlimited instant hot water heater, and a new commercial gas service line. One White Street represents the perfect opportunity to live in a land-marked home with a legendary past. It marries private townhouse living with the opportunity to surround yourself by all that Tribeca has to offer.

*Please note that the advertised rent is the net effective rent with one month free on 12 month lease with a gross rent is $18,500 per month.*

Tribeca | Manhattan

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.

Grandeur on Lower Fifth, The Grand Madison – 225 Fifth Ave

The landmarked Grand Madison condominium at 225 Fifth Avenue, on the northern edge of Madison Square Park, displays hypnotizing architectural features. The exterior windows of this massive brick and limestone structure play in staccato, giving off an aesthetic reminiscent of a typewriter, with its steady rhythms and robust countenance. Completed in 1907, this Renaissance Reviva...
