Property Description for 137 Franklin Street, 1

Set on one of Tribeca's very best blocks, this 2,700-square-foot triplex loft is a stunning, custom-built maisonette home that blends classic New York City architectural style with a stylish modern design scheme, soaring ceilings, and a striking private garden. The main level includes an airy living room centered around a marble-encased working gas fireplace and framed by double-height ceilings and gigantic windows that fill the entire space with sunlight. An elegant open-air staircase leads up to the second level, which includes a sprawling master bedroom suite and a spacious second bedroom, both with full bathrooms and walk-in closets. Stairs also lead down to the expansive lower level, which includes a large media den and laundry room. Wide-plank dark hardwood floors run throughout the main level, staircase and all bedrooms. The stylish kitchen is outfitted with a long marble countertop, state-of-the-art appliances, including a SubZero fridge, Miele dishwasher, stove, microwave and barista, and Thermador wine cooler, and an overflow of cabinets. The white marble master bathroom is equipped with double vanities, a glass-enclosed steam shower, and the finest fixtures. The home features an intelligent, integrated automation system, which controls all lighting, window treatments, entertainment, and radiant floors throughout. There are ample closets and storage space. Finally, glass doors from the living room lead to the 19-by-21-foot garden, a landscaped urban respite with plenty of room for entertaining. 137 Franklin Street is a one-of-a-kind boutique building, newly constructed in 2012 and fashioned in a landmarks-approved style consistent with Tribeca's historic districts. It features just three apartments and is set at the quaint corner of cobblestone-lined Franklin Street, with all the best of Downtown Manhattan living moments away. A wide array of world-class restaurants are steps from your front door, Hudson River Park is two blocks away, and a subway entrance is literally at your front door.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
