Property Description for 140 West 12th Street, PH-7A

This spectacular 4,317 ft² int. - 1,174 ft² ext. - 4 bedroom - 4.5 bathroom penthouse residence at The Greenwich Lane on West 12th Street sits in the heart of the Village, featuring loft-like interiors, beamed 10 ft ceilings, northern and southern exposures, casement windows, incredible natural light, media room w/ fireplace & wet bar, a private balcony, and two set-back private terraces.

The custom-paneled entry door, red oak hardwood floors, and pale, natural material palette create a relaxed, handcrafted surrounding.

The well-proportioned living room overlooks the lush, central garden. A grand entry way leads to a stately gallery. The kitchen -- which opens up to a private terrace -- is clean & crisp, replete with custom-paneled wood cabinetry, white marble countertop, and a mirrored backsplash. Polished stainless steel hardware and stainless steel Wolf, Sub-Zero, and Miele appliances fully complete the kitchen.

The master suite possesses two walk-in-closets and an en-suite master bathroom, which is elegantly appointed with a custom millwork vanity with pale marble countertop, under-mounted soaking tub, glass enclosed shower, and marble mosaic floor.

On the top floor, the media room has a fireplace and wet bar. It too opens up to a private terrace.

Additional bedrooms feature large windows, en-suite bathrooms, and highly-crafted details. A fifth bedroom / office faces the lush, central garden.

Other features include: powder room, custom millwork and light fixtures throughout designed by Thomas OBrien, LG washer/dryer, and four-pipe HVAC system with zoned climate control for maximum year-round flexibility.

In addition, the building offers a staggering array of state-of-the-art amenities never before available in the West Village, including a full fitness and wellness level with professionally designed facilities, yoga and treatment rooms, 25-meter swimming pool with hot tub, and high-end golf simulator; spacious residents' lounge, dining room with guest chef's kitchen and separate catering kitchen; a 21-seat screening room; a light-filled children's playroom; bicycle and private storage; and 24-hour attended lobbies.

The Greenwich Lane is a collection of five unique addresses and five townhouses nestled together in the West Village, New York's most intimate and desirable neighborhood. Revitalizing nearly a full city block between Twelfth and Eleventh Streets off Seventh Avenue, the development is groundbreaking for its LEED-certified architecture by FXFOWLE, and for world-renowned designer Thomas O'Brien's visionary interiors and dramatic public spaces.

A rare mix of historical restoration and innovative new construction, each building carries the grace of its own era: from stately pre-war elegance to modern contemporary sophistication. Every home represents handcrafted luxury, bridging the glamour of Old New York with the ease and individuality of modern living through airy, light- and view-filled residences. All surround a lush central garden, designed by M. Paul Friedberg & Partners, in the spirit of classic village greens.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
