Property Description for 228 East 13th Street, 20

Sun filled One Bedroom facing south and east strikes a perfect balance of pre-war details with conveniences of the 21st century.Apartment 20 is flooded with sunlight throughout the day from extra-large windows reaching practically to the 9.5 foot ceilings. There is exposed brick in EVERY room including the east facing bedroom and windowed bath, also facing east. A newly renovated kitchen with Bosch dishwasher, Bertazzoni range, Miele laundry, stunning cabinetry and white quartzite counter top. Nestled into an alcove, the kitchen has the feel of a bay window overlooking an actual garden and has been re conceived to an open plan with the south facing living room. Wood work throughout has been restored to its natural finish, accenting and contrasting the modernity of the kitchen and the elegant yet whimsical lighting fixtures.228 East 13th Street, built in 1900, is a fine example of the Renaissance Revival architectural influence common at the close of the 19th century with a red brick facade, embellishments and columns set on one of the East Villages most lovely and most convenient blocks. It is just around the corner from the L train and a few minutes walk to Union Square, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Flatiron Shopping and an abundance of fine dining choices. Application currently pending board approval.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
