Property Description for 644 Broadway, 2-W

AMERICAN INSTITUTE OF ARCHITECTS AWARD-WINNING LOFT

With 13' high arched windows, history meets modern luxury in this unique and stunning designer loft in downtown's hottest neighbourhood, Noho. The Bleecker Street loft has received multiple awards, including a coveted AIA (American Institute of Architects) for outstanding interiors, it has been featured in numerous design publications, including Interiors and Décor, and has been televised on NBC.

Rare and impressive, this huge corner loft in Noho's famed landmark MSI building affords the unique opportunity of owning a piece of the city's legacy.

After nearly 40 years, this jaw-dropping space was meticulously renovated and painstakingly restored with specific attention to the preservation of historic details, creating at the same time a sleek, 21st century luxury environment.

Massive floor to ceiling windows (13' high x 20' wide) frame the dramatic and unique living space, setting the stage for the 48' great room, 10' long stone fireplace, and 12' long marble kitchen island with separate dining area -- the perfect layout for elegant entertaining.

The open chef's kitchen is furnished with custom Italian Poliform cabinetry and top of the line Gaggenau appliances, including wine cooler with two different temperature zones.

The impressive master bedroom has its own arched window and 20' of floor to ceiling custom twin closets. The dramatic en-suite master bathroom has a large soaking tub with a spectacular backdrop of Italian statuary slab marble. Additionally, it is equipped with marble radiant heated flooring, separate dual vanities and a spacious shower. Fixtures are Dornbracht and Fantini throughout.

The guest bedroom / media room has a large walk in closet and full en-suite bathroom also furnished in exquisite Italian marble.

All flooring is solid, wide-plank, imported Swedish beech wood. To protect artwork and appointments, windows have been coated in Sunshield solar film. The loft has been designed with ample closet space throughout and massive custom pocket doors increase the flexibility of the entertaining and private spaces.

Additionally, this stunning space has been equipped with state of the art audio / visual system, three independent HVAC zones, LG washer and dryer, remote-controlled solar shades and a home security system.

Built in 1898, the Manhattan Savings Institute Bank Building (MSI) is situated in the exclusive and ultra-chic downtown neighbourhood of Noho. One of the city's finest surviving examples of 19th century architecture, the MSI has been named one of the Top Ten Loft Buildings in New York. The residents' only roof deck was recently reconfigured and refreshed, offering a sunny and peaceful retreat. The site is also famous for the largest bank robbery in US history to date, inspiring accounts in print and film.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
