Property Description for 55 Liberty Street, 3-B

Stunning and one of a kind! If you ever dreamt of living in a New York City landmark, here is your chance to make it happen with apartment #3B! Approximately 1350-SF two bedroom, one and a half bath at 55 Liberty Street, this corner unit is in move-in-ready condition. Surprisingly and beautifully quiet, with great flow and a very flexible layout with amazing light and views of Wall Street, Federal Hall and the Stock Exchange courtesy of the southern and eastern exposures. Also featuring 10-foot high ceilings, nine large double-glazed windows and real hardwood floors throughout.

Perfect for entertaining or the enjoyment of your own culinary aspirations, the open layout chef's kitchen features abundant storage and countertop space. An expansive window seat completes the cozy feeling, creating the perfect landing for a relaxed morning breakfast or an afternoon nap as the sun blankets you with the theatrical view of the historic center. Two bedrooms offer a warm nesting space while an open studio area for the artist-owner's own work allows for additional living space, study or whatever you might envision and desire for your home. Two massive walk-in closets and a storage room provide ample space for conveniently organizing your "life's stuff". The master bathroom has a combo shower/tub and the powder room is huge and could easily be converted to a full second bath, and currently hosts new washer/dryer units. This incredible true home residence is one of only three apartments on the third floor, accessed off of an intimate marble hallway.

The prestigious Liberty Tower is ranked the #1 Co-op in the FiDi for its desirability, strong financial standing, flexible board, historical importance and limited availability. It is a Gothic Revival-style building listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Rich in history, it once housed the law offices of President Theodore Roosevelt and Standard Oil. One of the City's first skyscrapers, this classic 1909 high-rise is built in a way that they don't replicate these days. Standing strong and durable, it is acclaimed for its striking terra cotta facade with intricate sculptures of lions, eagles, flowers and gargoyles. It boasts a 24-hour doorman, porters, a live-in super, and five elevators serving only 87 units that are divided by upper and lower floors. Pets and pied-a-terre allowed, and the monthly maintenance charge, which includes heat, water and gas, is approximately 60% tax deductible.

Centrally located near Wall Street, the South Street Seaport, Hudson River Park, City Hall Park, Whole Foods, no less than three Equinox gyms, and all the bars and restaurants of Stone Street and Tribeca! Also, just two minutes from the new Fulton Street Transit Center, with access to the 4/5, 2/3, A/C, J/Z and R subway lines as well as the PATH train. Also close to the incredible Brookfield Place food court and marketplace with its numerous shops and restaurants, such as Gucci, Burberry, Bottega Veneta, Ferragamo, J. Crew, Lululemon, DryBar, and Saks Fifth Avenue, plus the French marketplace Le District.

Financial District | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The Financial District (FiDi) today is a bit of a hybrid neighborhood, as the residential component continues to grow in an area that has been historically dominated by the financial and insurance industries. The residential experiment, which began more than two decades ago, continues to evolve in an area with a large concentration of older, large office buildings. Developers have taken to these aged buildings and have re-positioned them as residential properties. In turn, the public spaces, services and retail establishments needed for a thriving residential neighborhood have followed making this an important destination for city residents.

Since 2000, the residential population of the Financial District has nearly tripled in size from about 23,000 residents to more than 60,000 inhabitants. Many of the residential pioneers to FiDi were people attracted to the lower rents in the neighborhood, particularly the post-collegiate crowd. While the millennials still maintain a large footprint here, there are plenty of families that now consider the Wall Street area home.

Many of those that live in the Financial District walk to work. If you reside here and need to commute elsewhere, the transportation from here is about as good as it gets. Express trains can take you to Midtown, either east or west, in twenty minutes. Brooklyn is but a single subway stop away. There are also ferries across to Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island.
