Property Description for 130 Amity Street, 5

Knockout, drop-dead gorgeous and unique to boot. This huge, top floor 2 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom apartment with an amazing 400 squarefoot private roof terrace and central air conditioning recently underwent a stunning architect-designed gut renovation. Set in a 19th-century 25-foot-wide brownstone in prime Cobble Hill, the apartment has been thoroughly redesigned using luxe materials, custom millwork and all-newfittings and fixtures. Enter into a foyer offering bench seating with storage, spacious closets and a beautiful sightline to the lushly planted roof terrace with sky beyond. The living and dining rooms are lined with shikkui Japanese plaster and have been cleverly designed to offer a mounted-television hideaway, ample built-in shelving and a working fireplace with limestone mantle. The dining room is paired with an enormous kitchen with bountiful storage and counter space. The wide open chefs kitchen features Fior di Bosco Italian marble counters and backsplash; Bertazzoni range, refrigerator and hidden vented hood; Bosch dishwasher and a dual-zone wine refrigerator next to a built-in bar. Further into the apartment is a dressing area, complete with custom-built closets and a full-size LG washer and vented gas dryer. There is also a powder room with a custom limestone sink. The bedrooms are thoughtfully separated from the main living area ensuring peace and quiet. The master bedroom has a skylight (openable by remote control) and en-suite bathroom with a Tadelakt double sink and light-filled walk-in spa shower. A cheerful second bedroom has wonderful closet space, a large window and custom built-ins. The one-of-a-kind, landscape architect-designed roof terrace features ipe wood and porcelain pavers, beautiful plantings to ensure privacy, automated lighting and a WiFi-connected smart irrigation system. This is a pet-friendly, well run 4-story, 4-unit coop with excellent financials and free basement storage. Many major capital improvements like a new roof and brownstone facade have just been completed, leaving the building in great shape for the new owner. The location is fantastic, offering an easy commute to Manhattan and access to a vibrant restaurant community as well as amenities like Trader Joes, Sahadi's, Union Market, Cobble Hill Cinema and Brooklyn Bridge Park.

Cobble Hill | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The neighborhood now known as Cobble Hill was originally settled by Dutch farmers in the mid-1600s. Tucked along the East River, in the heart of Brooklyn, Cobble Hill is known for its welcoming, leafy streets, independent mom-and-pop shops, and 19th century brownstones.

Most of Cobble Hill lies within an historic landmark district, and building heights are restricted to 50 feet, which helps maintain its 19th century atmosphere. Building owners will often split the use of their four- or five-story buildings, occupying several of the top floors and renting out the ground floor as apartments or, conversely, occupying one or more of the lower floors and renting out the top floors. New construction and alterations to existing buildings in the historic district require approval by the New York City Landmarks Preservation Commission, which helps maintain the historic character of the Cobble Hill neighborhood.

Although most housing in Cobble Hill consists of traditional brownstones and brick townhouses,, you will also find churches that have been converted to condos, carriage houses that have become luxury apartments and Victorian school houses that have been converted into lofts.

Court Street and Atlantic Avenue are the main commercial streets in the neighborhood. You will find popular Middle Eastern restaurants on Atlantic Avenue. Court Street is home to casual restaurants, many with outdoor seating, relaxed cafes and hip bars.

Many young professionals and families live in the brownstones, townhouses, and single-family homes that line the leafy streets. Cobble Hill is a great place to live if you work on Wall Street, as you can walk over the Brooklyn Bridge to work.
