Property Description for 294 Windsor Place

This glorious two-family, 20-ft.-wide townhouse sits just off Prospect Park on a delightful tree-lined block in Windsor Terrace. Standing three stories, the house is replete with restored architectural detail pocket doors, parquet floors, built-in closets, pier mirror, tin ceilings, fireplaces and has been modernized with a renovated kitchen, baths and two-zone central air. From the main entrance up the stoop, then through the foyer, youll enter a large living room with a triple bay window that casts light deep into the room. A center parlor serves well as a den, study or tv room. If time spent in the kitchen is your jam, this one will be a pleasure! Flooded with sunlight and graciously proportioned, its been remodeled to include a large island and breakfast bar, tall cherry cabinets, a Sub-Zero fridge with cherry panel, Bosch dishwasher and a walk-in pantry. A deck accessed through a glass door is large enough for container planting, grilling, sipping morning coffee or evening cordials -- or even swinging on your hammock, easily hung from secured hardware! A coat closet and powder room are conveniently located on this floor, as well. Upstairs are four bedrooms (one with a built-in loft bed), two full baths, a laundry room with sink, and four skylights that shed light all through the day. The master bedroom has a walk-in closet and an en-suite bath with tumbled marble. One of the great surprises of this house is the garden, carefully curated for year-round beauty with an ornamental cherry tree, witch hazel with lovely winter blooms, and a variety of medicinal and cooking herbs. The street-level apartment has its own entrance, and while its currently configured as an office suite, it could easily revert to a large rental apartment or easily joined into a single-family home. The cellar has great ceiling height and well-maintained mechanicals (Weil Mclean boiler and AO Smith hot-water heater). Well situated near the F train and P.S. 154, this house has been lovingly restored and cared for and is ready for its next owners. Is that YOU?

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
