Property Description for 569 17th Street

The warmth and charm of this gorgeous brick townhouse will capture your heart. Set on a quiet, tree-lined Windsor Terrace block, this 3BR/4BA single family residence measures 17' x 45' on a meticulously manicured 80 foot lot. A modest stoop an original 1920's entryway flow into an open living space flanked by a cozy hygge inspired nook with wood-burning stove, and a contemporary kitchen featuring top-of-the-line Viking and Bosch appliances. A white Corian island allows for seating and functionality, while sleek custom shelving and cabinetry provide additional storage. An inconspicuous full bathroom provides subtle comfort, while White Oak flooring, Walnut details, and an original stripped banister really tie the room together. Nearly doubling the entertaining and living space, a beautifully manicured bluestone patio is framed by a verdant array of flowering plants and trees, including a Japanese Willow, Crepe Myrtle and Pink Magnolia, all of which are easily maintained by an underground irrigation system.

The second floor is configured with a spacious bedroom suite with large south facing windows and an ensuite sky-lit bath with a separate area for a potential sauna or dressing room. The second and third bedrooms are of equal size and are efficiently designed, and are adjacent to a second sky-lit full bath. The light and airy lower level is easily accessed internally and externally, and features a fourth bathroom, laundry room, wood beams and elegant finishes. This level functions nicely as additional sleeping quarters, office, media or exercise room, or general recreation room. This is a true "Smart Home," with Nest equipped comfort and safety features, new and highly efficient heating and on demand water system, and multiple-zoned ductless air conditioning units.

569 17th Street is ideally located on a serene and community oriented block, a micro-neighborhood of convenience and charm situated minutes from Prospect Park, the F/G trains, and wonderful dining, entertainment and amenities (PS 154, MS 442, Tiny Scientist, Della, Le Paddock, Windsor Farms Grocery, Krupa Grocery, Brunswick, Adirondack, Nitehawk Theater).

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
