Property Description for 141 East 3rd Street, 8-C

Expansive, high floor, corner one-bedroom available at coveted Ageloff Towers, a beautifully maintained Art Deco elevator building in the heart of the East Village. This apartment has all the pre-war charm you would expect. A gracious entry foyer flows into a wide open living room with high beamed ceilings and newly refinished original inlaid wood floors. The windowed eat-in kitchen is currently separated from the living space, but the opportunity is there to remove the wall and create a luxuriously sized open kitchen. The king-sized bedroom has generous proportions, lovely afternoon sunlight and skyline views from its west facing windows. The windowed bathroom is in excellent condition and features its original cast-iron tub, newly re-glazed to perfection. This is an excellent value in a solid pre-war building with the added bonus of electricity included! Ageloff Towers is a beautifully detailed 12-story pre-war building constructed in 1929 by Samuel Ageloff during a short wave of luxury hi-rise development in the East Village (abruptly halted by the Great Depression). 141 East 3rd Street is a pet-friendly co-op with a full-time lobby/elevator attendant, live-in super, laundry room, package room and bike storage. 2% flip tax.

East Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The East Village has two distinct moods. By day, it is quiet and peaceful. Everyone is out and about, either working or relaxing at Tompkins Square Park, strolling or jogging along the East River, or hanging out in one of the subsets of cultural activity, such as St. Mark’s Place.

But then night falls, and the East Village comes to life, keeping the entertainment and nightlife going long after the other neighborhoods have called it quits for the night. People from all five boroughs flock to the dive bars and speakeasies, head for their favorite cafes and restaurants, or drop in to a music venue to listen to hot tunes or cool jazz and dance the night away. Don’t worry, you don’t have to “know somebody” to gain admittance to even the most popular venues. You won’t find velvet ropes, bouncers, or and a waiting list at the door of most places. Just walk right in and enjoy yourself.

Be prepared for the increased population during fall through spring, when NYU is in session. College students will be everywhere, contributing to the youthful essense of the neighborhood.
