Property Description for 435 East 52nd Street, 9-B

Old World Charm Meets Modern Conveniences in this Spectacular Home in the River House

A private elevator vestibule opens to the grand gallery with beautiful marble floors which is complimented by a powder room. Two oversized arched entryways lead to the impressive formal entertainment wing of the home consisting of an expansive living room and a formal dining room. The sun flooded living room has sprawling East River views, a wood burning fireplace, and immense wall space perfect for an art connoisseur. The living room directly opens to the west-facing formal dining room which has city views and lovely built-ins for fine china and silverware.

The 24' Eat-In kitchen is easily accessible through the dining room and off of the gallery. Features include a sizable dining area, a butters pantry with two large wine coolers, and a separate laundry room.

The private living quarters reside on the south side of the home. Off of a gallery are four generously sized bedrooms. The corner master bedroom with river and south views has an en suite bathroom and a substantial dressing room. The home continues with two large bedrooms with en suite baths and a fourth bedroom that is currently an exquisite library.

This sophisticated home boasts prewar detail throughout including hardwood floors, high ceilings, and oversized pane glass windows.

Situated on a cul de sac on East 52nd Street, The River House, is one of Manhattans most discrete and sought-after prewar, white glove cooperatives. Built in 1931 by renowned architects Bottomley, Wagner, & White, residents are welcomed to the Art Deco masterpiece through a cast iron gate to a landscaped cobblestone courtyard. There is a stunning riverfront lobby and a gorgeous interior garden. Also available to residents is membership at the adjacent River Club, with its extensive athletic and dining facilities including a swimming pool, squash and tennis courts, gym and golf simulator.

Beekman Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Beekman Place is less of a neighborhood than it is a quiet two-block enclave just north of the United Nations on the far eastern edge of Turtle Bay. There is only one street that runs through the neighborhood, also called Beekman Place, that wraps itself around 49th Street and 51st Street.

This bucolic little stretch of the east side has always been a cherished spot for those fortunate enough to have found refuge here. The noise and the street traffic from the city surrounds is virtually non-existent as there are no through streets in this neighborhood.

The neighborhood composition largely consists of a few clusters of townhouses and prewar co-ops. The exception to the rule is the charming art-deco-styled Beekman Place Hotel at the corner of First Avenue and 49th Street and the two post-war towers, 860 and 870 UN Plaza that front the grounds of the United Nations.
