Property Description for 30 West 13th Street, PH-6C

This rare and impressive 3,400SF duplex penthouse loft spans nearly an entire city block and features grand-scaled entertaining space, a sprawling flexible 4 bedroom layout, and a sense of peace and tranquility that is so hard to find in New York City! From the moment you enter the foyer and gaze down the hallway, you will be amazed by the sheer volume of the space that lies ahead. A large comfortable media area with built-in cabinetry leads to a massive south-facing corner Living/Dining room illuminated by a dramatic skylight and featuring high ceilings, a wood-burning fireplace, and unobstructed views overlooking historic Greenwich Village and the iconic Freedom Tower in the distance.

Continue past the Living room to find the enormous eat-in chef's kitchen, a remarkable room crowned with a huge skylight. Clearly designed by one who loves to cook, this sun-drenched room features a large center island, deep granite countertops, endless custom cabinetry with built-in cupboards and pull-out pantries, and professional grade appliances including a SubZero refrigerator, Miele dishwasher, dual Dacor wall ovens, and a 6-burner Thermador cooktop with grill vented to the outside. Nearby, a secondary foyer separates the public from private areas of the home and leads to a fabulous king-sized Master Bedroom Suite with bright exposures and an enormous walk-in closet with cedar-lined cabinetry. The luxurious en-suite Master Bathroom features two custom vanities, a deep jetted soaking tub, a large glass-enclosed steam shower with built-in bench and a separate water closet. Off the main entertaining space, you'll also find a separate windowed office, a tasteful powder room, and a sky-lit guest bedroom with its own marble en-suite bathroom.

The enchantment continues upstairs where a sun-filled penthouse lounge leads to two lush landscaped terraces, each echoing in birdsong and delighting the eye with a colorful array of perennial flowers, all framed by picture postcard views of the Freedom Tower, Empire State Building and everything in between. Whether entertaining friends or enjoying moments of quiet relaxation, this magical oasis provides the perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the world outside. It simply doesn't get better than this!

Built in 1900 and converted to cooperative in 1978, the building features a brand new key-locked elevator, video intercom security system, a visiting superintendent, and private dedicated locked storage in the basement. And then there's the location, putting you right in the heart of Greenwich Village with its tranquil tree-lined streets, great restaurants, shopping, movie theaters, highly rated schools, and all modes of public transportation right at your doorstep. This unique and special offering will appeal to those seeking a serene indoor/outdoor lifestyle who appreciate the conveniences and cultural diversity of Downtown's most celebrated community. Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
