Property Description for 46 White Street, 3-FLR

Presenting 46 White Street, 3rd Floor, a quintessential Tribeca loft of impeccable beauty and grace. Located within the historic and architecturally significant Woods Mercantile Building, circa 1865, this unique home exudes elegance and refinement of contemporary style. This nearly 3,000 sq. ft. residence with 3 bedrooms, 3 full baths and a spacious home office allows living on a grand scale. Entering from the key-locked elevator, a sense of both grandeur and inviting comfort is immediately imparted. The Great Room, measuring 36x20, with 14 ceilings, is the focal point of the front of the loft, where entertaining, dining and relaxing in style are all comfortably accommodated. The space is illuminated by the 5 huge, 9 foot tall, south-facing windows. The center window opens on to a small balustraded balcony overlooking White Street. The open kitchen, of sleek, subtle line and warm tone is beautiful, and so very functional. The discerning chef has at their disposal a 5 burner Gaggenau cooktop with vented hood, accented by a striking mink marble backsplash, twin Gaggenau wall ovens, SubZero refrigerator, Miele dishwasher, massive counter space, and nearly limitless storage in the wall of cabinetry. Hosts will greatly appreciate the wine pantry, with its bespoke walnut cantilevered shelving and 150 bottle SubZero cooler, wet bar and second Miele dishwasher. The buildings industrial heritage is accentuated and tastefully incorporated into the entire loft. This is achieved most notably with the original ceiling joists and beams exposed in the great room and subtle accent lighting at the tops of the classic cast-iron columns. The columns line the long gallery which joins the front and rear of the loft. Modern conveniences include 2 zone central A/C, cove and recessed lighting and hardwood walnut floors throughout. Situated in the extremely quiet back of the loft, the master suite exhibits a grand scale, with a very large separate walk-in closet by California Closets, and a serene and elegant five fixture bath. Separating the master suite from the additional bedrooms is a small gallery/study which allows for additional privacy. The bathrooms are all elegantly finished in soft, neutral and natural tones evoking the earth-sourced origins of their fine materials: marble, stone, wood and stainless steel. The master bath has a deep soaking tub, large walk-in shower and features enhanced comfort with its radiant heat floor. There is also a large separate laundry room with full size Whirlpool Duet steam washer and dryer. Included with the loft is an approximately 72 sq. ft. private storage room in the basement.46 White Street is a boutique condominium in the landmarked 1865 Woods Mercantile Building. Impeccably restored with six units spanning seven floors, this discreet and well-maintained example of mid-19th century architecture offers grand loft living with virtual doorman and very low monthly costs.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
