Property Description for 764 Bergen Street, 1-B

IN-PERSON AND VIRTUAL SHOWINGS BY APPOINTMENT. PLEASE REACH OUT TO SCHEDULE One of the largest backyards available in Brooklyn! 764 Bergen Street, Apt. 1B is a perfectly laid out 2 bedroom (convertible 3) duplex in a newly built boutique condominium at the nexus of Prospect Heights and Crown Heights. Many garden duplexes are laid out with a long, narrow, and dark living room but not this one! The upper level features a split bedroom layout around the open kitchen and living/dining space. Large windows fill your sight lines with greenery of the private garden. The well-appointed kitchen features stainless steel appliances and a large island with barstool seating. Both bedrooms have generous proportions including a bright master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. From this bedroom you can walk out to the enormous backyard. Measuring more than 40 feet across this is one of the largest backyards available anywhere in Brooklyn. It’s also super quiet! This wonderful south facing oasis is currently decked out with designer stone for easy maintenance, with plenty of room for outdoor dining, grilling, then napping in the hammock. Down a handsome staircase the lower level of the duplex has high ceilings and is quite bright with a large window and a south facing sliding door providing a second access to the backyard. This huge, flexible space also features a half bath, a full size washer/dryer, and huge storage room. Legally a 2 bedroom, this home was originally used as a 3 bed with a huge master suite and office in the lower level. Built in 2017, this boutique new development features 16 residences, a part time super, a common rooftop with city views, and a bike room. Prospect Heights has cemented itself as one of the most dynamic and desirable neighborhoods in Brooklyn. 764 Bergen is just a few blocks from the subway, great restaurants and retail on Washington, Vanderbilt and Franklin and a short walk to Prospect Park.

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
