Property Description for 817 Dean Street

3D Matterport tour available upon request.

Welcome to 817 Dean Street, an exceptional two-family townhouse that has been gut-renovated and impeccably designed. Situated on a tranquil and serene block in coveted Crown Heights/Prospect Heights border, this 3-story home has undergone a meticulous renovation that will impress even the most discerning buyer. 817 Dean Street features an owner’s duplex over a rental duplex and an abundance of outdoor space.

Owners Duplex: Consisting of three large bedrooms (two extending the full width of the building) and three full bathrooms, this space is unlike any other on the market today. As you enter the building and head up the stairs, you’ll be awestruck by the depth of the space. Measuring a rare 65 feet deep, this floor sports a guestroom, full-sized bathroom, dining area, large eat-in kitchen and a living room perfect for hosting and entertaining.

The guest bedroom features oversized, soundproof windows that allow an incredible amount light to pour in. With two custom built closets and book shelving, this bedroom can easily be mistaken for a master bedroom.

On the other end of the floor is the dining and entertaining space, which is divided by the incredible chef’s kitchen. The dining alcove can easily fit a large table that would instantly make the owner the host of all holidays (while making guests green with envy). The kitchen was designed and built with a chef in mind. With a contemporary style range top from Fisher & Paykel, Miele dishwasher, Fisher & Paykel refrigerator and Bosch double oven, the owner spared no expense in building an exceptional kitchen. Adjacent to the kitchen is the living room area, large enough to host parties and gatherings. Past the living room is access to the private deck along with the garden space.

Up the stairs is where the incredible master bedroom is located. The master bedroom also features oversized, soundproof windows and faces the back of the home adding an extra ambience of solitude and peacefulness. A private terrace can also be found off the master bedroom. Through the custom built, walk-in closet is the high-end minimalist master bathroom. With all-white tiles throughout, double vanity, soaking tub and rainfall showerhead with multiple body sprays, this bathroom will leave buyers stunned by its size and impeccable design. Down the long hall is the laundry closet, another full bathroom that features a linen closet, and at the tail end is the 3rd full size bedroom.

Lastly, the owner’s portion of the home consists of the private roof deck, which spans the entire 65 feet of the home along with half of the cellar space. Through the common hallway, owners have access to the front portion of the cellar that was built out for additional storage. Aside from storage space the cellar also holds two wine coolers.

Rental Apartment: The 1st floor apartment is a legal 1 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom duplex. The rental apartment was built to command a high rent featuring a walk-in closet, multiple outdoor spaces and refined finishes. The apartment holds a washer/dryer closet, pantry room, open cellar space, multiple closets, additional storage and large floor-to-ceiling windows.

Crown Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Originally known as Crown Hill by the Lenape Indians that lived there, Crown Heights has evolved into a diverse neighborhood, occupied primarily by Hasidic Jews and one of the largest Caribbean populations to be found anywhere outside of the West Indies.

Head over to Nostrand Avenue, one of the main West Indian commercial areas in the neighborhood, which is lined with stores that have been in those exact same places for generations, providing their goods and services to area residents. Kingston Avenue has similar commercial activities that support the Jewish community, and Franklin Avenue shows the most signs of change and gentrification, with an ever-expanding mix of yoga studios, coffee shops, and organic grocery stores that serve the influx of young professionals. No matter which of these areas you visit, you will find an interesting mix of businesses that you wouldn’t normally picture as existing side-by-side. It is all part of the cultural diversity of Crown Heights.

The neighborhood is bisected, from east to west, by Eastern Parkway, which is a beautiful, 3-mile-long boulevard lined with mature trees. This leafy oasis was designed by Frederick Law Olmsted, famed designer of Central Park, the Biltmore Estate in North Carolina, and the U. S. Capitol in Washington, D. C.

You will find a mix of low-rise apartment buildings, large middle-class elevator buildings, brownstones, and some luxury buildings. Century-old architecture stands next to modern residential developments in a visually interesting mix of styles, much as the diversity of the residents exists. People who would not normally meet and mix are forging new pathways to cultural understanding by working, living, and playing together in the same neighborhood.
