Property Description for 241 West 23rd Street, 6-A

Residence 6A is a specular loft offered for the first time in over forty years. Located in a prewar building erected in 1898. This spanning seven stories high, authentic lofts like this are few and far between, making this a unique opportunity to own a piece of New York City history.

The Residence

Residence 6A is located in prime downtown Chelsea. This fantastic 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom unit can easily be converted into 3 stunning bedrooms. Making this ideal for those looking to settle into their dream home for many years to come, with exceptional possibilities to redesign the generously open layout.

The loft showcases classic and original details such as the newly refinished hardwood flooring and tin ceilings painted white, with modern upgrades such as two newly renovated bathrooms, complete with Toto and Moen fixtures, this loft is a truly rare find.

With oversized windows overlooking the iconic Chelsea Hotel, renowned for its architecture and notable residents such as Andy Warhol, Leonard Cohen, Jimi Hendrix, Mark Twain, Stanley Kubrick, Bob Dylan, and Madonna among many others, there is an abundance of sunlight, sky and city views. Substantial in size, the layout is ideal for reconfiguration, as the floor plan can be designed to meet your needs. For example, the wall between the master bedroom and living area can be removed. Perhaps you would like to replace the wall with French doors, or perhaps you would prefer to create an additional room, such as an office, den, or another bedroom. Similarly, the wall between the second bedroom and living area can also be removed, creating a dimension of 38 feet across, with three oversized windows overlooking 23rd Street.

Additional features include an open kitchen concept with a Sub Zero refrigerator, a brand new stainless steel oven and microwave, a dishwasher, as well as brand new restored flooring.

The Building

The co-op is self-managed and includes amenities such as private storage, bike storage, a washer/dryer for all residents to use, a brand new oversized elevator installed in 2019, and a part-time superintendent. Pets are welcome, and a washer/dryer in the apartment is allowed.

The Neighborhood

Conveniently located in prime Chelsea, near Madison Square Park, High Line, Art Galleries, Equinox, Hudson River Park, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Eataly, and a short walk neighboring neighborhoods such as Flatiron, Gramercy, Greenwich Village, and Hudson Yards. Public Transportation and nearby Subway lines include A, C, E, L, R, W, 1, 2, 3, and Penn Station is a short walk away.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
