Property Description for 320 West 87th Street, 5-W

PRISTINE BY THE PARK
Kelly Giesen Designed Showplace
Masterfully Renovated Back to the Studs
Quality like this is rare – and is always a valuable choice.
The owners of this supremely unique, smartly crafted, beautiful home hired the talented Kelly G for her unique vision and her ability to maximize space and light in the most gorgeous ways. Kelly’s work has been celebrated and touted throughout the design world, and this special residence – with a prized split-bedroom layout -- is her latest heartfelt masterpiece.
From the moment you step through the door, you'll know that you are in an exquisite residence. Sweetly situated in the coveted treetop level of its boutique 1911 building, the details in this luxurious and lovely L-shaped home are inspired by the classic DNA of its Pre-WW1 era, and executed with a contemporary eye toward elegance and comfort.
The foyer is welcoming, the open living room and dining room have a lofty, 28-foot run of over-scaled windows onto the treetops, the open kitchen has a sunny picture window onto the treetops, and all of the bedrooms and bathrooms are glorious. Overhead are plaster pendants and vintage lighting, underfoot are White Oak herringbone floors, showcasing the tree views are new, mullioned windows, and everywhere there is a feeling of high quality and goodness.
This handsome home lends itself to flexibility, functionality, stylishness, and expansiveness. Entertaining, working from home, schooling from home, stretching out, and living well are gracefully achieved in this versatile and pretty residence. The open cook’s kitchen merges form and function perfectly with its marble countertops, dining bar, custom cabinetry, Big Chill range, and big windowed sink under its pretty window. The open plan living/dining rooms flow easily off of the gorgeous kitchen. There is a washer/dryer – there is a full, marble, windowed guest bath with claw-foot soaking tub – and there are impressive custom closets and storage throughout.
The master bedroom wing is elegantly split-off of the other two bedrooms. With big, tree-view windows, herringbone floors, a pendant ceiling, a wall of outfitted closets, an office space with a custom oval window, and an en-suite marble, windowed bath (with dual sinks and step-in shower), this master suite is worthy of the name. Two guest bedrooms are on the other end of this well-scaled home, and are both served by their own marble bath and their own designed closets.
Perfectly perched in its sweet, pet-friendly, Riverside Park block building with storage and bike rooms, this feel-good home enjoys a wonderful location. Nearby are many Upper Westside cultural, dining, shopping, and recreational destinations – not to mention many easy transportation options.
Here, a designer’s eye has mindfully and masterfully created an impressive home that lives largely, flexibly, and beautifully. Pristineness by the park awaits.

Upper West Side | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Bracketed on its east and west borders by massive city parks, the Upper West Side (UWS) is known for its greenery, stately and elegant townhomes, safe streets and great schools, all of which make it a very desirable neighborhood for families. The UWS has maintained its community feeling, making it attractive to young professionals and retirees, both of whom want a sense of belonging in the place they call home.

Here you’ll find many apartment buildings, especially those along Central Park West. Historic architecture abounds, anchored by four luxury co-ops - the San Remo, Majestic, Century and Eldorado apartments - all of which have two towers on their interiors. They were built in the 1930s and their design was predicated on a 1929 building code that imposed a height limit on residences facing the street. There are also impressive row houses near Riverside Drive throughout the W 70 and 80 Streets. Above the 90s, you will find smaller buildings where walk-ups are very reasonably priced.

There are several world-class museums and venues dedicated to the performing arts. Plentiful dining can be found in the UWS. You will find everything from quaint Jewish delis serving up bagels and a schmear to sophisticated fine dining that has earned multiple Michelin stars, and everything you could possibly want in between. There is also abundant shopping and a vibrant nightlife.
