Property Description for 119 Chambers Street, 3

If you have always fantasized about living in a historical loft behind the old cast iron walls that line the iconic streets of Tribeca, then this is the home you have been waiting for. 119 Chambers was built in 1858 and converted to a four unit boutique condominium in 2008. The perfect marriage of historic architecture with today's modern New York living needs makes this home an absolute treasure.

This 1500+ square foot two bedroom and two bathroom home encompasses the entire third floor and is entered directly through a private keyed elevator. Upon entering the jaw-dropping entertaining space, you immediately notice the incredible features including the 14' ceilings, 100+ year-old original rafter ceilings, the exposed brick, and the southern sun streaming in from the three landmarked floor-to-ceiling arch windows. The open 32-foot room is perfect for entertaining, spreading out, and relaxing with the people you enjoy most. The layout provides distinct flow for a dining area into the sitting area which also features a wood-burning fireplace and plenty of large closets.

The open kitchen faces out into the beautiful loft space and features a thoughtful modern design. The wrap-around white marble countertops have walnut cabinets underneath with white lacquer cabinets above and plenty of storage. The high-end suite of appliances includes a subzero fridge, Wolf oven, and Miele dishwasher. There is a stacked washer/dryer as well as an adjacent pantry for additional storage.

In the rear of the loft, there are two generously proportioned bedrooms as well as a full off suite guest bathroom. The master accommodates a king-sized bed with plenty of room for additional furniture. There are two large closets and a renovated ensuite bathroom.

Finally, the home features central air throughout and comes with a massive private storage unit in the basement of the building where you will also find the building's shared gym for only four units to share.

119 Chambers is conveniently located in the heart of Tribeca, half a block from the 123 and ACE trains. World-famous restaurants, bars, and shopping are all within a short walking distance.

Quick Profile

TriBeCa, named after the small geographic triangle below Canal Street. It’s not really a triangle, it's a quadrilateral and it's bounded by West Street, Broadway, and Chambers Street. It’s a little too late for a name change and besides, QuaBeCa doesn't sound half as cool as Tribeca.

One of New York City’s more notable acronymed neighborhoods, TriBeCa is known for its trendy boutiques, fabolous restaurants, historical landmarks, and resident celebrity lofts. It still holds the title of one of the coolest places to live in New York City.

TriBeCa is one of the first residential neighborhoods of New York City. Way back in 1700’s wealthy New Yorkers built homes and maintained gardens in what is now TriBeca.

Later in history it shifted from residential to warehouses, commerce and markets. After the Civil War, shipping hubs moved from the East River to the Hudson River and revitalized areas like the South Street Seaport and TriBeca. When shipping and commerce increased, the area soon became a favorite spot for wholesalers to store their goods in large industrial warehouses.

Just like its neighbor SoHo, TriBeCa boasts one of the world’s largest collections of wrought-iron facades and Neo-Grecian architecture.
