Property Description for 241 West 23rd Street, 3-B

Authentic loft living in Chelsea! Move right into this 3 bedroom, 2 full bath loft or create your own personalized 1,600 square foot sanctuary by removing or modifying any internal wall. Built in 1898, this is not a new development created to be loft-like; this is a rarely available true part of New York City's history!

The apartment has classic loft details including exposed brick walls, high 10' 5" ceilings, polished maple floors and a dramatic steel column.

The huge master suite includes French pocket doors, a dressing room/walk-in closet (with triple hung rods and built-in drawers and shelving) and a luxurious bathroom (with an oversize farmhouse apron sink and a sizable shower with bench seat and separate handheld adjustable sprayer). One of the two additional bedrooms could also easily function as a home office. The Chef's kitchen with its sleek stainless countertops and high-end appliances includes a new 48" Sub Zero refrigerator, a new Bosch dishwasher and a new InSinkErator garbage disposal. The second bathroom features a jacuzzi tub and bowl sink vanity.

The loft's 6 huge closets are enhanced by additional overhead storage, pantry closets in the kitchen and built-ins throughout. There is a new in unit Miele washer/dryer in addition to complementary overflow laundry facilities in the lower level of the building.

The apartment was upgraded with custom German engineered UPVC tilt & turn windows which are not only beautiful but extremely durable & functional as they have two distinct functions: swing them in like a door or tilt the top of the sashes into your room for ventilation.

The small self-managed co-op buildings amenities include a recently rebuilt oversized keyed elevator, only 2 units per floor, a video intercom, a common bike storage area and a part-time super. Apt 3B has a private 5' X 15' storage cage in the buildings lower level. Pets are allowed.

Located across the street from the historic Chelsea Hotel, the building is steps away from the High Line, Madison Square Park, Hudson River Park, art galleries, and fantastic restaurants. Neighboring shopping venues include Whole Foods, Fairway, Trader Joes, Eataly, Chelsea Market, Home Depot, Best Buy, Michaels, Staples and Bed Bath and Beyond. Nearby Subway lines include A, C, E, L, R, W, 1, 2, 3 and the M23 crosstown bus.

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
