Property Description for 429 Kent Ave, PH-3

Penthouse 3 in Williamsburg’s ultra-luxe condo building The Oosten is a custom-crafted home of 5,100 interior square feet with an additional 1,500sf of private outdoor space, all with direct elevator access to a private garage. Designed by Elizabeth Lawrence of Bunny Williams Interiors, the original six-bedroom, six and a half bath layout has been customized into a gracious three-bedroom with a separate home office (or fourth bedroom) and media room (or fifth bedroom). See alternate plan for simple conversion to up to seven bedrooms. Every inch of this space has been redesigned to create a light-filled, sprawling home across its two levels. Arriving by semi-private elevator, the lower level opens to a grand entrance gallery featuring custom honed limestone. Hand-made glass and bronze doors define various spaces – off the gallery a lounge featuring a custom wet bar flows into the 28-foot-wide formal living room. Here, two elegant seating areas and a limestone fireplace are framed by the floor to ceiling windows looking out over The Oosten’s 14,000sf landscaped courtyard. Bronze and glass pocket doors lead to the adjacent study and full bath. Across the gallery, the truly luxurious master suite features two en-suite bathrooms, a massive custom-built walk in closet, and additional dressing area. Two additional bedrooms on this floor each are complete with en-suite baths. This level also features a large laundry room with vented dryer and custom storage. A wide windowed stairwell leads up to the 8th floor – where the Penthouse’s kitchen, additional living room, dining room, and media room are located. This floor, wrapped in floor-to-ceiling glass, is flanked by two spectacular outdoor spaces: a south-facing terrace with mature trees offering complete privacy, outdoor living room, sunbathing, and a hot tub. The north terrace off the kitchen is the perfect spot for outdoor dining and features iconic skyline and bridge views. The immense open kitchen has been completely re-imagined and is an entertainer’s dream, with a huge center island of St Laurent black marble, a Smeg Opera vented professional range, double ovens, two dishwashers, extra-large Viking refrigerator and freezer, and two 50-bottle wine refrigerators. Another set of bronze and glass doors opens to the formal dining room, featuring floor to ceiling glass walls facing the terrace. The media room with lacquered custom built-ins also has direct access to the north terrace. State of the art conveniences include custom automatic pocket shades and window treatments, Lutron Maestro lighting control, in-ceiling speakers, and ultra high-efficiency multi-zoned heating and air conditioning. This Penthouse comes complete with an enclosed, double-height private garage space with a high-speed Tesla charger – easily accessed by the elevator. Three large storage closets and a separate storage room are also included within the garage. The Oosten is a Piet Boon-designed luxury condominium offering residents a prime Williamsburg location as well as an unsurpassed suite of amenities that include an on-site lifestyle concierge, indoor/outdoor swimming pool, fitness center, spa, kids' playroom, library, lounge/bar/billiard room, rooftop grilling and entertaining spaces, rooftop reflecting pool, and a massive, lushly planted courtyard. The building is next to Domino Park and close to the neighborhood’s well-known restaurants, cafes, bars, and shops, including Aska, Peter Luger, Meadowsweet, Diner, Marlow & Sons, Sunday in Brooklyn, Misi, The Four Horsemen, and Brooklyn Winery to name just a few. Manhattan is minutes away via the the Williamsburg Bridge, the East River Ferry to 34th St or Wall St (just across the street) or the nearby J, M, Z, and L subways.

Williamsburg | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Equal parts family-friendly and millennial haven/nightlife destination, Williamsburg offers the best of all worlds. Whether by night or by day, the ‘Burg has endless options for every type of personality and interest--which has only increasingly become the case after the neighborhood was rezoned in 2005. With the floodgate opened for more varied types of businesses, Williamsburg saw one of the highest rates of development in the past decade than any other part of Brooklyn.

Referred to as “Little Berlin” for its late night and club-oriented nature, Williamsburg works as hard as it plays. Apart from the Clubland concentrated around Wythe Avenue, there is also a slew of offices (like 25 Kent Avenue, a sprawling eight-floor, 500,000-square foot waterfront building) and co-working spaces such as WeWork, The Yard and Green Desk that make it an ideal location for the corporate-, startup- and tech-oriented set.

With more offices setting their sights on this part of Brooklyn, it only makes sense that more people want to live close to where they work. Apart from your average walk-up apartment, W-burg has famously become home to numerous condos along the waterfront that continue to grow and expand in concert with the businesses and corporate hubs that have entered the environment.

Even with its many and undeniable changes, however, Williamsburg remains an arts-friendly community, particularly with regard to music and literature. While DIY spaces have come and gone, certain staples have persisted to become institutions that still provide a place for up and coming musicians to perform. On the literary front, long-standing indie bookstores like Spoonbill and Sugartown and Book Thug Nation have paved the way for others to cross the river, namely McNally Jackson Books.
