Space, flow and ease... this massive convertible three at Plaza 400 offers you the flexibility and breathing room you’ve been craving. Upon entering this elegant apartment, you’ll be floored by the sheer amount of storage space it offers... closets absolutely everywhere! You’ll then arrive at the dining area, set up as built in banquet that can seat six to eight people. The eat-in kitchen, off to your right, is windowed and equipped with full sized appliances as well. Cook up a storm... two chefs will fit in this kitchen! Proceeding through the kitchen, you’ll arrive in the convertible third room, currently configured as an office with built in storage. Working from home will be no sweat. If WFH is not your style, use this room as a formal dining room or convert it into a true bedroom... your options are wide open! Next... the massive living room. That gigantic sectional sofa you’ve had your eye on? Add to cart... it will fit! And while you’re at it, add a recliner or two. You’ve got the space to design your perfect nest for movie marathons and Netflix binges. Off the living room you’ll find the balcony, perfect for hanging out al fresco. The main bedroom, off the living area, delivers on storage with a huge walk in closet and space for a king sized bed. An ensuite bathroom adds convenience and privacy. Finally, the second bedroom benefits from plentiful natural light and currently accommodates not one, but two twin beds... keep as is or throw a king in there. You don’t have to compromise! Plaza 400 is a white glove cooperative in the heart of Sutton Place. The gorgeous lobby exudes luxury and the rooftop sky lounge is the perfect place to snap brag-worthy shots of the Manhattan skyline. The health club makes Equinox jealous and you don’t even have to step foot outside to get there! The dog days of summer will be a pleasure too... thanks to the swimming pool on the rooftop. Sutton Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Sutton Place is usually described with favorable words like charming, cozy, great neighborhood, hidden gem, sanctuary, or even small village inside a big city. Those descriptions aren’t from real estate folks either, they’re from the people that live and work there, so it must be true.

The quiet and upscale neighborhood is more like an enclave. It’s bounded by East 53rd Street to the south, East 59th Street to the North, First Avenue to the west, and the East River to the east. Most residents will tell you that everything you’ll ever need is located in the neighborhood. When it’s time to venture out into the cityscape, Sutton Place is within easy reach to Midtown and cultural attractions like the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, Central Park and other iconic sites.

Manhattan has always had notable celebrity residents. But for unknown reasons, Sutton Place has had more than its share of superstars over the years. Some of the more iconic celebs include: Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, Freddie Mercury, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Crawford, Michael Jackson and sister Latoya (Just for one summer).

Sutton Place is named after Effingham B. Sutton, a shipping merchant and entrepreneur. After hitting it big in the California gold rush, Sutton built brownstones along East 57th and East 58th streets with aspirations of making the section more residential. Poverty and crime dashed his dreams. The street gangs that hung out along the dead-ends and cul-de-sacs added to the neighborhood’s decay. Sutton was about to give up on his development endeavors but the Vanderbilt’s and the Morgan’s showed up in the 1920s and transformed the neighborhood. It soon became a wealthy enclave.
