Property Description for 131 West 24th Street, 6

Opportunity knocks at this stunning, one-of-a-kind Chelsea loft. Looking for space? Find it here - spread across two floors and situated in the heart of Manhattan, one block from Madison Square Park. With two private entrances via keyed elevator, this airy home offers a respite from the city hustle. Exit the elevator directly into a sleek industrial-modern kitchen, with both formal and casual dining areas. You will not find a kitchen this size anywhere else. Natural light abounds thanks to sun flooded, south-facing windows... You are reminded of the true meaning of “loft”, looking out across the double-height ceiling of the great room. This dramatic space affords ultimate luxury and is desirable to host friends and family or simply relax. Exposed and painted brick, a catwalk balcony, stairway, and North, South, and Eastern exposures are defining architectural features of this pre-war home. Large-scale windows mute the city’s noise and frame historic Chelsea views. A long, elegant hallway from the living room leads to the master suite - the most serene and private area in the home. Spacious enough to house a king size bed and accompanying furniture, the room also features south facing windows with an automatic shade, a walk-in closet, home gym/yoga room, and master-bath with walk in rain shower and soaking tub. The second elevator entry is discreetly located in this area of the apartment - providing a quick escape after a long day... There are four more bedrooms and accompanied by two full bathrooms. On the first level, just. off the great room is a second living area, fitted with two working desks and a cozy couch. On the second level, a library looks back across the great room’s soaring ceilings. There is an automatic, drop down projection screen for movies or presentations. Working from home could not be more attractive. The home is equipped with zoned air and heating, abundant storage (in apartment and two basement storage stalls). Maintenance fee is reasonable. The building is a boutique, 6-unit co-op with one commercial tenant and the exterior brick facade was repointed in 2020, accordance with local law 11.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
