Property Description for 218 Saint Marks Ave

Where do we begin? Is it the beautifully landscaped terraced garden? The impeccably designed parlor floor just made for entertaining? Maybe the full floor main suite with the wardrobe of your dreams? Imagine waking each morning on the upper floor of your flawlessly renovated townhouse in prime Prospect Heights. You tiptoe to your adjoining bathroom where an Arabescato Carrara marble double vanity and marble floor tiles deliver a spa-like quality, complemented by warm wood tones, sleek lines, and high-end fixtures from Kohler, Duravit, and Kallista. It's a beautiful space to pamper yourself in, but that may have to wait as you head down the hall through your walkthrough wardrobe, making a mental note of what to wear today before you enjoy a morning coffee on your private terrace overlooking a rather picturesque garden. Will you luxuriate here over the paper, meditate, or perhaps head to the park for a few laps? Whatever your decision today, your best one was definitely the one to move here. On the parlor floor, you'll find an open plan living room adjacent to the entry foyer with a colorful powder room hidden away in the corner. This flows through to your state of the art kitchen and formal dining area making this the perfect space for entertaining. The beating heart of your home has been reimagined here and is kitted out with a Viking range, a very clever Samsung French Door refrigerator, gorgeous Arabescato Carrara marble surfaces, and an elegant Mutaforma Italian glass backsplash, that'll ensure you feel inspired to create amazing memories here with friends and family. Breakfast can be enjoyed at the bar in this stylish kitchen while more formal affairs can move to the dining room which can seat eight or more. Custom cabinets in blue with brass fittings frame an ornate fireplace, one of many featured throughout, and here a well-stocked bar finds the perfect home to the left, while the right side accommodates additional pantry and kitchen items. An ornate pressed tin ceiling frames the modern crystal chandelier providing some grandeur to the hardest working room in the home. The garden level accommodates two additional bedrooms along with a second full bathroom. A playroom between them does double duty as a guest room via a handy wall bed. A luxurious laundry and utility room features your main laundry with side by side LG units that can take all you throw at them. You have another stacked pair by Samsung on the upper floor too. An overflow refrigerator, by Viking, will make you wonder how you ever lived without it, and the utility closet will help you stow and organize all your cleaning essentials. Access to the cellar can be found via the garden level where ample space is available for storing seasonal items. Accessible from the parlor and garden level, the lush landscaped garden, in which stone and hardwood frame the various terraces, provides distinct spaces for contemplation, conversation, and entertaining. The modern pergola has been thoughtfully designed to provide a respite from harsh daylight rays while also providing nighttime lighting as well. Could this be your happy place? We think so. Prospect Heights | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Prospect Heights is a small residential neighborhood surrounded by big attractions. It’s rich in culture and offers the perfect blend of old Brooklyn charm and modern-day hipness.

Residents of this tight-knit community include young professionals, families and long-time residents. It’s a walkers paradise - just steps from Prospect Park and a short walking distance to neighborhoods like Downtown Brooklyn, Fort Green and Clinton. You’re close to culture too. Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn Library, Brooklyn Botanical Garden, Brooklyn Academy of Music and the Barclays Center are all nearby.

Prospect Heights is bordered by Flatbush Avenue to the west, Washington Avenue to the east, Atlantic Avenue and Dean Street to the north and Eastern Parkway to the south.

Prospect Heights, like many areas of New York City, was first inhabited by indigenous tribes and eventually settled by the Dutch and turned into farmland.

A significant part of the Revolutionary War was fought in Prospect Heights and the surrounding areas. Known as the Battle of Brooklyn, it was the first military engagement following the Declaration of Independence. Things didn’t go so well for American forces so they retreated and the British occupied Manhattan for several years after the Battle of Brooklyn.

In 1867, the opening of Prospect Park caused major housing growth in Prospect Heights. The middle-class neighborhood was soon populated by Jewish, Italian, and Irish workers. Many of which were shop-owners or employed as laborers in nearby factories.

Housing in Prospect Heights includes single-family row houses, historic townhouses, co-ops, and new luxury condos. The median listed price for a 1-bedroom in Prospect Heights is $680,000 with an average price per square foot is $944.

The neighborhood's commercial artery runs along Vanderbilt Avenue and Washington Avenue. The variety of businesses adds to the charm of the neighborhood. They include bars, pubs, restaurants and mom-and-pop stores of all types. The shops and eateries are a perfect alternative to the big-name attractions that bracket the neighborhood. It's a little bit of everything in this neighborhood.

Subways are plentiful in Prospect Heights. Its proximity to Manhattan is another perk of the neighborhood. It's about a half-hour train ride. The B, D, N, Q, R, 2, 3, 4 and 5 subway lines all serve the Atlantic Avenue/Barclays Center station. 2, 3, 4, B and Q trains cover the neighborhood and the A and C trains are nearby too.
