Property Description for 25 Sutton Place South, 3-G

Make breathtaking East River views your daily backdrop in this impeccable three-bedroom, three-bathroom cooperative in coveted Sutton Place. Enjoy water view unique to this unit. Higher floor units offer views of Queens as opposed to tranquil 180 degrees of water. Avoid the cost and heartaches of renovations which other units require. Renovations of this level will require nearly a year of work and the expense of paying maintenance during this time- not to mention the required permit expenses and covid related construction delays and costs. Beautifully renovated throughout, this expansive waterfront home boasts wonderful custom closet space, premium finishes and picture-postcard views from nearly every room. A gracious foyer opens to the jaw-dropping great room where walls of windows to the east and south frame the river and 59th Street Bridge. Enjoy open, airy living and dining areas topped with recessed lighting and integrated speakers while gorgeous herringbone hardwood floors run underfoot. The kitchen is a masterwork in modern minimalism thanks to sleek blonde cabinetry, crisp white countertops and an army of stainless steel and integrated appliances, including a six-burner gas range, dishwasher, two wine refrigerators and a built-in microwave. Wake up to tranquil water views in the master suite, designed with two California closets, custom built-ins and an en suite bathroom featuring radiant heat flooring and a walk-in rain shower with a bench and handheld sprayer. Secondary bedrooms offer roomy closets, world-class views and easy access to two well-appointed full baths with radiant heat. Smart home controls operate zoned HVAC, sound, lighting and window treatments in this superb Sutton Place haven. Cannon Point North is an exceptional postwar co-op offering a live-in resident manager and full-time doorman and concierge service. Residents enjoy a fitness center, laundry, private storage, on-site garage, bike room, free Wi-Fi and a renovated private terrace overlooking the East River and bridge. Sorry, no dogs. Nestled within the sought-after Sutton Place enclave, this home offers the perfect combination of Midtown accessibility and residential serenity. Here, you're just inches from the newly rebuilt Sutton Place Park and the East River Esplanade. Enjoy excellent local shopping and dining and easy access to transportation, including E, M, 4/5/6 and N/Q/R/W trains and the FDR.

Sutton Place | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Sutton Place is usually described with favorable words like charming, cozy, great neighborhood, hidden gem, sanctuary, or even small village inside a big city. Those descriptions aren’t from real estate folks either, they’re from the people that live and work there, so it must be true.

The quiet and upscale neighborhood is more like an enclave. It’s bounded by East 53rd Street to the south, East 59th Street to the North, First Avenue to the west, and the East River to the east. Most residents will tell you that everything you’ll ever need is located in the neighborhood. When it’s time to venture out into the cityscape, Sutton Place is within easy reach to Midtown and cultural attractions like the Museum of Modern Art, Rockefeller Center, Central Park and other iconic sites.

Manhattan has always had notable celebrity residents. But for unknown reasons, Sutton Place has had more than its share of superstars over the years. Some of the more iconic celebs include: Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller, Freddie Mercury, Sigourney Weaver, Joan Crawford, Michael Jackson and sister Latoya (Just for one summer).

Sutton Place is named after Effingham B. Sutton, a shipping merchant and entrepreneur. After hitting it big in the California gold rush, Sutton built brownstones along East 57th and East 58th streets with aspirations of making the section more residential. Poverty and crime dashed his dreams. The street gangs that hung out along the dead-ends and cul-de-sacs added to the neighborhood’s decay. Sutton was about to give up on his development endeavors but the Vanderbilt’s and the Morgan’s showed up in the 1920s and transformed the neighborhood. It soon became a wealthy enclave.
