Property Description for 267 West 124th Street, 2-A

A unique 3000 sf Soho-style 8 room, 2.5 bath triplex loft in the heart of Harlem offers a truly distinctive experience. This flex 4 bedroom home features several additional multi-functional spaces including an office/den, loft that could be converted into a third bedroom and a soundproof studio perfect for an artist.

The keyed elevator opens to the large living and dining room with a beautiful beamed ceiling, gas fireplace, custom bar with wine fridge and natural light pouring through the south facing German made, mahogany-framed tilt-and-turn windows.

An open chef's kitchen offers high-end stainless steel appliances, sleek lacquered cabinetry and a large eat-in breakfast bar, ideal for entertaining.

The en-suite master bedroom is spacious and bright with a skylight illuminating the built-in window seating area that doubles as extra storage and dressing room space with two sets of closets. A soaking tub, rain shower, and double vanity with a marble countertop creates a luxurious, retreat-like experience.

The second bedroom is bathed in natural light from the wall-to-wall windows and skylight. Custom built-ins present excellent functionality and storage.

The generously-sized office/den is a cozy room with cove lighting, built-in desk and shelving, closets and overhead transom windows.

Heading down the stairs you come to a sizable loft that could easily transition into added living, working or storage space depending on your needs.

With stunning double height ceilings, the lower level is where you will find a second living area, soundproof studio, half bathroom and outdoor garden terrace.

In-unit Bosch W/D. Hardwood floors. High ceilings. Central AC.

267 West 124th Street is a 1910 landmark prewar warehouse that was converted to an eleven-story loft condominium building in 2007. The building offers a virtual doorman, package room, bike room and close access to transportation, parks and entertainment.

Harlem | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The neighborhood called West Harlem by the locals is known as Manhattanville to neighborhood newcomers. The area is culturally diverse and might be considered a microcosm of the city as a whole.

Columbia University has recently expanded into the area, which is attracting student residents from all over the world. Together with students from the City College of New York and young professionals fleeing higher prices in other neighborhoods, this influx of younger residents has brought with it more restaurants and bars on W 125th Street to serve this clientele. There are also new ventures, like a rock-climbing gym, to cater to the interests of these students and young professionals. At the same time, there are many small, family-owned shops and restaurants that have been anchors of the neighborhood for multiple generations.

The area has been through a housing upgrade, as older properties have been renovated and abandoned properties have been razed to make room for new development. There are still reasonably priced apartments available. Young professionals are finding that there is a certain cachet to living in West Harlem. It provides a convenient commute to the city and all of its amenities, while providing a sense of escape at the end of a long work day.

While rentals are popular with the student population, the young professionals are delighted to find pre-war brownstones, pre-war co-ops (including some income-capped HDFCs for lower- and middle-income buyers), and post-war condos that they can afford, although prices are rising. Some new low-rise developments, sporting virtual doormen and desired amenities, are cropping up.
