Property Description for 593 Halsey Street

Bright, sleek and distinctive – there is truly nothing on the market like this two family oasis in the heart of historic Stuyvesant Heights. This chic 2-family renovation features an owner’s duplex over a garden duplex that is finished as impeccably as the main living space for optimal rental income. The owner's duplex has three large bedrooms, two full baths and a powder room. Upon entry on the parlor level, you are greeted with a beautiful foyer and custom made heavy French doors that lead into the gracious and sunny parlor. These are not your typical renovations to a nineteenth century townhouse! White exposed brick runs throughout the living room, accenting a working gas fireplace. The space flows effortlessly to the dining area and to the impeccably equipped chef’s kitchen. Pristine white lacquer cabinets reach the ceiling creating a divine abundance of storage. The kitchen itself has stainless steel appliances, including a Kucht Professional Oven, a double-wide GE refrigerator, dishwasher and wine fridge. The countertops are quartz and there is a large island with a sink that you can prep and dine at. Three large French doors open up out onto an enclosed 15 × 15 deck with windows on all sides, and lead down to the enormous back yard, perfect for a cookout or swanky soiree. The master suite upstairs has two closets, marble bathrooms (one is ensuite) and a staircase to your own private roof deck. All of the house systems are only six years old, including plumbing, electric, water filtration, full sized washer/dryer and solar panels for significant energy savings. The one bedroom garden duplex has a full bath as well as a powder room and provides for the perfect rental opportunity. Notable features include stainless steel appliances including another Kucht oven, a dishwasher, full sized washer and dryer and a working gas fireplace. The apartment also opens directly to the garden. Exposed brick and a charming glassed in staircase round out the space. Additional features of the property include video intercoms and an alarm system, and split unit air conditioner/heaters which won’t break the bank since the entire home gets almost all of its’ electricity from the solar panels. 593A Halsey Street is just a block away from Michelin starred L'Antagoniste and plenty of other neighborhood hotspots like Peaches Hot House, Casablanca's, Mama Fox's, Halsey's Trader Market which specializes in organic produce, and is an easy commute to Manhattan. The A/C at Utica and J/Z at Gates are just a few minutes away. Welcome home!

Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
