Property Description for 60 East 9th Street, 237/238

Residences No. 237 & 238 at 60 East 9th Street present a rare Greenwich Village home consisting of two adjacent units that have been combined and renovated over time. Meticulously repositioned and designed by the current owners, this two or three bedroom bespoke property has been outfitted with the most luxurious, stylish and tasteful materials; resulting in a sublime, loft-like home featuring stunning interiors, warm natural light and treetop Village views. Step into the home and immediately experience the rich detail, expansive living quarters and thoughtful renovations. Behind the front door of this sprawling apartment is a formal entryway with a double coat closet. A formal living room with multiple and spacious seating areas overlooks tree lined East 9th Street. Jaw dropping vintage furniture, restored and dark stained hardwood strip floors and white washed walls set the tone for an inviting entertaining room. Dividing the living room lounge from the formal dining room is the large chef’s kitchen with newly painted custom cabinetry, handsome black matte hardware, brand new appliances and a stainless steel countertop. Tons of storage, pantry space and two walls of prep counters make this kitchen ideal for hosting large dinner parties. Adjacent to the kitchen is a dramatic formal dining room with an 8+ person table, two large windows overlooking a mature cherry blossom tree, and the easy option to carve out a large 3rd bedroom with two huge closets. The master bedroom is tucked away in its own wing of the home and features a wraparound master bath with two sinks, Apparatus sconces, a walk in windowed shower with timeless marble and a stone bench. The large master walk in closet is totally custom and has been fitted out by the current owners. Off of the master suite and tucked alongside the living room is a home office nook and a striking powder room featuring Calacatta Viola marble and a polished concrete sink with Newport Brass hardware. The second bedroom is off the formal dining area and also features a wall of custom closets and another breathtaking bathroom with a custom oak vanity, a Calacatta Viola sink frame, Apparatus sconces and a deep soaking tub and shower combo. This home is filled with beautiful natural light and offers a design vision rarely executed in alike properties. This is a unique opportunity to purchase a turnkey oversized two bedroom or easily convertible three bedroom without sacrificing space, comfort or design. Best of all, walk to Washington Square Park in a matter of minutes. The Hamilton is a full service cooperative optimally situated on East 9th Street between Broadway and University. This pet friendly building features a full time doorman, live in resident manager, a communal courtyard, bike storage, private storage and a central laundry room. Co-purchasing and subletting are permitted. Sorry, no pied-a-terres or guarantors.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
