Property Description for 505 West 19th Street, 2-A

This masterfully redesigned West Chelsea Garden Duplex features soaring ceilings, dramatic windows and a private outdoor area perfect for entertaining. No detail has been overlooked as the owner has customized the entire home using the finest materials from around the world. The double-height great room featuring 22-foot ceilings, sets the tone with floor-to-ceiling casement windows illuminating the space with golden western sunlight. Ceramic wood planks line the floors while an Italian marble wall installation is the backdrop for a custom entertainment system by Minotti with 85" built-in Television and cove lighting. Cascading down from above is a hand-blown glass light installation by Galilee. The open kitchen has grey washed oak cabinetry and stunning brass hardware, top-of-the-line Miele appliances and a vented hood. Custom upgrades include a massive Carrara marble island with casual counter seating, as well as a more formal dining nook, allowing for both sophisticated entertaining and relaxed gatherings. Just outside, a lush garden spanning almost 1000 sq ft, comes complete with landscaped planter boxes, gas grill, outdoor heat lamp, and High Line views. Ascend the illuminated stairway where the two serene bedrooms are separated by a dramatic catwalk with views overlooking the great room and outdoor garden. The master suite has a ton of natural light and a completely customized walk-in closet. The en-suite master bathroom is paved with heated Bianco Dolomiti flooring, while Italian marble walls surround a deep soaking bathtub, oversized walk-in shower and dual-sink vanity, all punctuated by brass Waterworks fixtures. The second bedroom is equally well-appointed with an en-suite bathroom and customized closet with additional closet space and a full-size washer/dryer in the hall nearby. Direct keyed elevator access completes this picture of luxury. 505 West 19th Street is a Thomas Juul-Hansen-designed masterpiece that envelops the High Line where amenities include: a state-of-the-art fitness center, 24-hour concierge, live-in resident manager, laundry room, private storage unit, bike storage and refrigerated storage for deliveries. Perfectly positioned in the heart of the West Chelsea Arts District, the building is surrounded by art galleries, shopping, dining and entertainment, including Chelsea Market, Chelsea Piers, the Whitney Museum, and the Hudson River Park.

Chelsea | Manhattan

Quick Profile

The row houses portray the world-class architecture of Greek Revival, Italianate and Georgian styles. The population is both ethnically and socially diverse, which is reflected in the restaurants and retail businesses in the neighborhood.

Western Chelsea is the center of the NYC art world, where you will find more than 200 art galleries housed in rehabbed factories and warehouses, as well as in newly-constructed buildings.

While people of many different cultures call Chelsea home, it has been a mecca over the years for people in the LGBTQ community. One census reported that as many as 22% of its residents were gay couples. Eighth Avenue is a trendy area for LGBTQ-oriented dining and shopping. Although it no longer draws the LGBTQ population that it once did, Chelsea still has many popular alternative bars.

Chelsea is primarily residential, consisting of a mixture of diverse complexes, low-rise apartment blocks, tenements, townhouses, renovated row houses, and luxury high-rises.

Chelsea is an interesting and sought-after place to live, with unique clothing boutiques, restaurants, and delis representing cultures from around the world. In addition to its quirky establishments, Chelsea has fine dining restaurants and a vibrant, hip nightlife, which adds to its allure.

Chelsea is well-served by public transportation. At least six city bus routes traverse Chelsea. There are three NYC subway routes with stops on Seventh Avenue, three on Eighth Avenue, and two more on Sixth Avenue. The 34th Street - Hudson Yards Station opened in 2015 with its main entrance in Chelsea.
