Property Description for 207 Windsor Place

Craving space, light and greenery but don’t want to leave the civilization of New York City? Well, you can have your cake and eat it too in this renovated and gorgeous three-level brick historic townhouse in prime Windsor Terrace only two blocks south of Prospect Park. Built in 1907, this Arts and Crafts style home seamlessly mixes original period details with fresh modern finishes and thoughtful contemporary updates. As you approach, you’ll take note of the house’s unusual set-back perch surrounded by towering sycamores and all of the delightful front gardens. A wonderfully sunny and catnap-ready enclosed wooden porch will let you decompress while listening to the park birds chatter and sing, rain or shine. The high-ceilinged parlor floor has all the original woodwork restored, complete with refinished original oak parquet floors, period moldings and a show-stopping Arts and Crafts staircase graciously lit by a stained glass skylight overhead. The sunny formal dining room can easily accommodate a grand table for your future holiday feasts with ample space for a bar or breakfront. The kitchen has two exposures with multiple sunny windows and was recently refreshed to feature a full suite of stainless appliances, butcher block counters, a delightful eat-in alcove and a gigantic pantry you can stock with enough dried pasta and yeast starter to last until 2024. The kitchen has sliding doors that spill out to the sunny landscaped backyard, which has a terrific deck with room for your grill as well as a bistro table and chairs. Genius morning coffee or evening drink moments abound there! The yard is fenced in with wide horizontal cedar planking. It’s delightfully breezy, with tall and whispery trees abound. On the top floor, the master bedroom has three bright sunny windows and something truly unique for this era of home...a gut renovated marble master bathroom with glass stall shower and honed brass spa finishes. The other three rooms upstairs are currently configured as two bedrooms and a playroom, but could easily be set up as three bedrooms or two bedrooms and a home office, etc. All rooms have ample closets outfitted with custom shelving. The second bathroom is charming with a bathtub, wooden wainscoting and a brilliant skylight with original stained glass for lovely natural light. The windowed and full-height English basement with a half bathroom is pristinely kept with rooms configured as a kid’s art space, full laundry space and a huge, comfortable den perfect for your home theater, gym, work space or whatever you can dream up. Last but not least, there are several gigantic storage closets and a mudroom with dedicated room for bikes, scooters, sports equipment and all-weather gear. Worth noting...the house is completely outfitted with mini-splits in every room for wonderful, quiet and efficient heating and cooling. And to top it off, you’ll come home to the most picturesque block in beautiful Windsor Terrace...a true gem of a small town in the Big City only two blocks to Prospect Park and the subway. This truly unique historic home in this kind of Norman Rockwell location is one in a million! Call or email us today for more information or a showing. Broker/Owner.

Windsor Terrace | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

The tiny, comma-shaped neighborhood of Windsor Terrace is bookended between two of Brooklyn’s largest green spaces, Prospect Park and the massive Green-Wood cemetery. Aside from the presence of the Prospect Park Expressway, which dissects the neighborhood in two, this residential community offers a suburban sensibility with its tree-lined streets, low volume traffic and the low height character of its streetscape.

Many homes in the area are low to the ground, lending a suburban feel to the neighborhood, and the area has been down-zoned to maintain its low-rise appeal and character. There are plentiful brick row houses that have very low turnover. If you are lucky enough to buy or rent one, you tend to hold on to it. There are also small apartment buildings, private homes, condos and multi-family homes in a wide price range

There is commercial development along Prospect Park West, Fort Hamilton Parkway and Prospect Avenue, but even these new stores and restaurants are mostly family-owned and operated, maintaining the small-town charm. The pace of life is slower. The schools are good, which is a big draw for families with young children. The people are friendly, which gives a real sense of neighborhood and community to Windsor Terrace.
