Property Description for 120 Patchen Ave

Exquisitely designed and decorated by an award-winning New York architect, this stunning 2 family townhouse has design elements usually found at a higher price. At the garden level there is an expansive open concept living space with through-stained oak floors, exposed beams and painted brick work. An ample sitting room framed by a bay window flows into a spacious dining area with a Herman Miller light fixture, following by a chefÂ’s dream kitchen with Miele and Gaggenau wall ovens, Sub-Zero refrigerator and a Bosch dishwasher. There is an enormous center island with waterfall caesarstone on both sides, a Fisher & Paykel cooktop, range hood and outfitted with deep highly functional soft-close drawers. A prep sink, pull-out pantry and a custom china cabinet round out the kitchen offering. With a convenient and Zen powder room plus direct access to a secluded garden featuring a cast stone fountain, your indoor-outdoor entertainment needs are met. Ascend the stairs to a gigantic bedroom worthy of a page in Dwell magazine. Decorated in sophisticated smokey hues and replete with an alcove fit for a King-sized bed, a wealth of custom built-in closets and a slate fireplace, you will never want to get out of bed! The second bedroom is set up as a stunning home office, beautifully lit with a bay window and a magnificent Roll & Hill "Modo" chandelier. The foyer at parlor level has restored solid wood brownstone doors and leads up to a 2 bedroom rental unit, currently awash with carefully curated and unusual furnishings and bathed in light from the skylights overhead. The basement is finished, dry and practical with a LG washer and dryer, peg board for tools and plenty of cabinet storage making any DIY project a breeze. Opposite the house is a wonderful and well used community garden and a city park, so your view is protected. Restaurant and bar options are many including The Wilky, Chez Oscar, Turtles, Trad Room and L'Antagoniste. The J/Z is 3 blocks away at Gates Avenue and the A/C at Utica is easily accessible. Open houses are by appointment only!!!

Bushwick | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

As one of the most diverse neighborhoods in New York, Bushwick offers a perfect snapshot of just how multicultural the city is. Long-established as an amalgam of cultures and ethnicities, a wave of varying types of immigrants trickled in from the seventeenth to twentieth centuries, with Bushwick largely becoming a home to Hispanics of Puerto Rican and Dominican backgrounds by the latter part of the twentieth century.

With the Bushwick Initiative of the mid-00s that aided in revitalization, it became an attractive area to young professionals and artists. And even now, Bushwick has sustained affordable rent prices where other North Brooklyn counterparts, like Williamsburg and Greenpoint, have become more expensive. Priding itself on the weird and the wacky, numerous art collectives thrive in this part of Brooklyn, once famously named the seventh coolest neighborhood in the world by Vogue.

Though it has drawn in many tourists in recent years (there’s even a graffiti tour you can take from the Bushwick Collective), the neighborhood remains very much community-oriented, and has not been subject to quite the same sort of corporate infiltration phenomenon of its nearby Williamsburg environs.

But yes, of course, Bushwick has come a very long way from its 80s and 90s reputation as being “The Well,” a nickname given to it for its free-flowing and widely available amount of drugs (quantity over quality being the cliche applied here).
