Property Description for 157 Wyckoff Street

Well-proportioned and roomy, this graceful four story, two family Italianate-style townhouse embodies the relaxed and trendy vibe of Boerum Hill. The gracious upper triplex, with four bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, sits above a garden level one-bedroom apartment. The home retains five carrara marble mantles from when it was built in 1869 along with some original mahogany woodwork. With a nod to the environment, solar panels were installed last year when the roof was replaced, providing more energy than the house consumes. At the top of the high stoop, enter the owner’s triplex through a set of beautiful arched mahogany doors into a stunning parlor with high ceilings, elegant full height windows and two antique mantels. The front parlor leads to the formal dining room, perfect for entertaining, with a custom built-in bar and open to the kitchen with a large center island. Step outside to the home's serene refuge, a broad wooden deck overlooking a landscaped garden. Before heading upstairs, check out the delightful powder room tucked behind the stairs to catch a glimpse of yourself in the infinity mirrors. A route to the cellar has been maintained for the owner providing additional storage space and access to the mechanicals. The second floor contains two oversized rooms, one has been opened up to create an inviting place to chat, watch movies or read a book. Illuminated by three south facing windows, masterfully crafted dark wood frames the room and exposed brick adds warmth and texture. Cozy yet spacious, this surely would be your go-to spot to relax. The primary bedroom faces the garden with a walk-in cedar closet and an en-suite bath that contains a glass enclosed shower, fully renovated in 2014. A laundry room with full-size units and a separate closet in the hallway provide ample storage. The top floor offers two spacious bedrooms separated by another huge walk-in cedar closet. They share a luxurious windowed bathroom that showcases a gorgeous clawfoot tub along with double sinks and make-up stations with custom built-in vanities. This wonderful and well cared for home sits on a tree-lined block. Located close to Smith and Court Streets, there are many local shops and restaurants to enjoy. Three subway stations are easily within reach providing access to practically every corner of the city. Boerum Hill’s history can be traced back to 1645 where your future awaits. * some rooms have been virtually painted

Boerum Hill | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Boerum Hill is a tiny, quiet, primarily residential neighborhood in Brooklyn. There are broad tree-lined streets that are filled with elegant three and four-story brownstones and townhouses, mostly built between 1840 and 1870. There is a definite family vibe to the neighborhood, but young professionals are moving in, and with them are coming trendy bars to cater to their desire for some measure of nightlife, without having to linger in Manhattan. These new bars and restaurants are being sandwiched in amongst existing shops on both Atlantic Avenue and Smith Street, which are the main commercial areas in Boerum Hill.

Boerum Hill offers a convenient location that is still able to maintain its small-neighborhood feel. Shopkeepers value their customers and remember their regulars. It continues to do what it was designed to do, namely provide small-town living in the very shadow of the big city. Boerum Hill is an easy commute to other parts of the city, making it easy to come home every day to the peace and tranquility of Boerum Hill while commuting to a job anywhere in the city.

The neighborhood is quite walkable and you can take the time to catch up with your neighbors while visiting on their stoops. Shopping on Atlantic Avenue is stress-free with no high pressure. You can meet with friends at any of the many coffee shops and while away pleasant hours in conversation. The dining scene on Smith Street is similarly laid-back. Don’t expect that there will be quite as much to see or do as there is in Manhattan, but there are a decent number of interesting bars and restaurants providing a measure of nightlife. The trade-off is worth it, as Boerum Hill provides a quiet, peaceful place to live and raise a family.
