Property Description for 349A Throop Ave

Welcome to 349A Throop Avenue; a custom designed townhouse that highlights the distinctive features Bedford-Stuyvesant architecture is famous for. The property was crafted to feature a modernized approach to design while maintaining architectural integrity.

West facing, parlor windows allow an abundance of light to radiate throughout, balanced by neutral white oak flooring, further adding warmth to the space. The thoughtful kitchen design seamlessly blends modern convenience with classical textures and fixtures. Clean, white cabinetry equipped with oil rubbed bronze pulls, marbled white quartz counter tops, and a herringbone marble backsplash implement depth while maintaining a palette that appeals to the masses. Rounding out the kitchen design is a top-of-the-line appliance package that includes Bertazzoni 5- burner oven, Bertazzoni range hood, Bosch 36? French-door refrigerator & a Bosch dishwasher. The parlor level also conveniently features under stair storage and access to a beautifully tiled deck and private garden.

The upper level of the owner's duplex features three-bedrooms (3BR) and two-bathrooms (2Bath) that highlight charming design features through a "less is more approach?. Each bedroom door is outfitted with crystal knobs and bronze trim, adding a layer of refinement. The sizeable primary suite offers ample closet space and an en-suite bathroom with true attention to detail; featuring a 42? solid wood vanity bottom with a deep farmhouse sink and a Carrara marble countertop. Floor-to-ceiling subway tiles offers a subtle yet classic design, which blends perfectly with the oil-rubbed bronze shower body and handheld shower spray.

The shared bathroom for the second and third bedrooms juxtaposes modern and classic by blending an antique grey vanity, black & white penny tile and brushed nickel fixtures and hardware. The shower encompasses a brushed nickel shower body, a handheld shower spray, and deep-soaking tub.

A notable feature of the home is accessibility to the cellar from the parlor level. The interior stairs bypass the high-income producing, two-bedroom rental unit, providing additional entertaining space for the owner. Additionally, the cellar comes with a full bath.

Throop Avenue is located by Herbert Von King Park, the largest park in all of Bedford-Stuyvesant. The surrounding amenities include but are not limited to: Burly Coffee, Sweets for Sweeties, Lilia, Biyou, Brooklyn Blend, Sugar Hill Restaurant, Brooklyn Whiskers, Buntopia, Santa Panza, Blink Fitness, Dog Broad, The Corners, Bunny, Marcy & Myrtle, Arepera Guacuco Bed-Stuy, Salt Of the Earth Bakery, Madame Poupon, Peaches Hot House, Eugene & Co, Warude, Brooklyn Kettle, Bed-Vyne Brew, Peace & Riot, Lovers Rock, Corto, Black Swan, Greenberg's Bagels, Oaxaca Taqueria, Playground Coffee Shop, Stonefruit, Boca Santa, and many more. Bedford Stuyvesant | Brooklyn

Quick Profile

Known for its historic brownstones and tight-knit enclave, Bed-Stuy has increasingly left behind its early reputation for being a “bedroom community” and transcended into a highly desirable neighborhood.

Distinct for its aesthetic, it is populated with ornate buildings characterized by cornices, friezes, finials, fluting and other marks of classic architecture. Built up during the period from 1870 to 1900, its historic district runs to the north of Jefferson Avenue, to the east of Malcolm X Boulevard and to the west of Tompkins Avenue.

At one point known as “Brooklyn’s Little Harlem,” the shape of the area has shifted toward attracting a wider demographic of people thanks to the influx of bars, restaurants, antique furniture stores and vintage boutiques. More police enforcement paired with the decline of the crack epidemic at the beginning of the 2000s also opened the door for increased development, as well as the occupation of formerly abandoned buildings and spaces.
