Property Description for 3 Sheridan Square, 8-D

West Village perfection! Two bed, one bath magnificently renovated sun-filled corner apartment with sweeping city views at the full service Parker House! Inspired by the futuristic design of Eero Saarinen's midcentury Miller House and one of the great masterpieces of Danish design, the home of Finn Juhl, this beautiful apartment is sophisticated and stimulating yet also comfortable and homey. Entering from the foyer into a grand-sized living room awash in soothing palates is like arriving in your own private sanctuary. Dazzling Finn Juhl-inspired built-in bookcases are punctuated in the center by a set-back, sofa-size seating area, framed by wall-mounted Schoolhouse Electric, retro-style sconces. The tonalities of the room are anchored by beautiful soothing grasscloth wallpaper designed by Jack Lenor Larsen. Every window is graced with Hunter Douglas oak blinds, and all floors are stylish oak installed during the recent renovation. Closets throughout are by California Closets, and the apartment is hard-wired for speakers in every room. The windowed kitchen features cork flooring, Italian terrazzo countertops, custom ceramic white tile backsplash, and wood cabinets lacquered in joyful orange. There is a five-burner gas cooktop and multifunction convection oven by Smeg, a Fisher Paykel microwave, and a Bosch dishwasher. The large master bedroom features ample closets, beautiful mustard tone walls and elegant 1950's Maison Arlus sconces. A generous size second bedroom on the opposite end of the apartment has a sweeping city view, double exposure, and a custom-made pocket door. A custom-made solid walnut desk with brass legs, mounted into one of the window bays, can be left in place or removed. The windowed bathroom features Italian Statuary honed marble, and the wall at the foot of the shower/tub combo is finished with stunning 3/4 inch glass Italian tiles inspired by Persian baths and the kitchen of the Miller House. All lights in the apartment are on Forbes and Lomax brass or nickel plated rotary dimmers. This beautiful renovation was accomplished by the Bachman Brown Design Studio. The Parker House at 3 Sheridan Square is a full service coop featuring one of the most spectacular roof decks in the city with full city and river views. Pets permitted, co-purchasing allowed, garage and bike storage available. Don't miss this beautiful, one-of-a-kind West Village home.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
