Property Description for 130 West 12th Street, 8-A

Perched just above the trees on the 8th floor, Residence 8A at 130 West 12th Street, part of the highly sought-after Greenwich Lane development in Greenwich Village is an exquisite classic four bedroom, three bath home. This is the most desired 4-bedroom 3-bath layout available, and affords the utmost feeling of home in an unrivaled amenity-rich complex.

The gracious flow of entertaining space, abundant inpouring of light from custom oversized Art Deco inspired thermal casement windows, and upscale finishes adorning the expansive interior all highlight this prewar showplace apartment.

Custom doors lead into a large entry foyer and gallery with art walls that introduce an ambience of architectural elegance, reflected by high beamed ceilings, chevron patterned hardwood flooring, custom cove and casing elements, custom lighting and other distinctive features. The spacious living/dining room and beautiful white chef's kitchen with large center island and top- of- the line appliances face onto the charming tree-lined 12th street, clearing over the tops of the neighboring townhouses with a view of the Empire State Building. The third and fourth bedrooms function well as a den, library or bedroom.

The quiet bedroom wing comprised of a master suite and generously-sized guest bedroom faces south over townhouse gardens and also offers views of The Freedom Tower. Glamorizing the master suite is a spacious step-down bedroom, huge fitted walk-in closet, and spa-like Waterworks tile bath with a double-sink vanity, soaking tub, oversized glass shower and radiant-heated floors. Extensive closet space is complemented by private storage that comes with the apartment.

The LEED-Gold certified Greenwich Lane has been meticulously reconceived for contemporary living, bringing the benefits of sustainable design to the elegance of prewar architecture. Additional highlights include UV filtering windows, a washer-dryer, plus state-of-the-art HVAC, water and air filtration systems. Residents enjoy an abundance of amenities: a gorgeous 24-hour attended lobby, diligent staff with a live-in superintendent, a landscaped rooftop terrace with spectacular city views, windowed gym, cold storage and emergency generator. In addition, residents also enjoy the adjoining Greenwich Lane amenities that include La Palestra managed fitness center with yoga, treatment, steam and locker rooms, a golf simulator, 3-lane 25-meter swimming pool and hot tub.

130 West 12th Street was originally built in 1941 and meticulously redeveloped into a Condominium in 2012 by Rudin Management. The thorough renovation of the building and the residential interiors was led by CookFox Architects, an award-winning firm that focuses on sustainable design.

Greenwich Village | Manhattan

Quick Profile

Birthplace of beatniks, Greenwich Village has always been a neighborhood bursting with creativity, home to artists, poets, musicians and writers. There is a lot of foot traffic in the neighborhood, as it gives convenient access to many other neighborhoods. There are a lot of popular eateries on MacDougal Street and bars on Bleecker Street. The neighborhood has a bit of a college-town feel, due to the presence of NYU. There aren’t large chain stores here, so it isn’t really a mecca for shopaholics, but you can find interesting vintage stores and specialty boutiques.

Available housing is centered on pre-war walk-ups. You can find good deals on the quieter, tree-lined side streets, as opposed to the bustling avenues. There are pockets of brownstones and townhouses, some dating back to the early 19th century, throughout the neighborhood, as well. You will find more luxurious housing in the newer high-rise buildings on Park and Fifth Avenues.

Washington Square Park is the heart of the neighborhood. If you sit near the Arch and close your eyes, you might catch an echo of the music and social history of the Park, floating through the air. Greats like Joan Baez, Bob Dylan, and Paul Simon started their storied careers right here in Greenwich Village. Today, the Village is a celebration of diversity, where everyone is welcome.
